Hello,
Thought id pop over and say hi to everyone. I am doing the Moonwalk in May, looking forward to it and decorating my bra ready, my page is http://www.justgiving.com/jocruickshank
I have a pic of me on there if you wanna see or even sponsor me:)
Hope everyones training is going weel for all the different events you are taking part in:)
My training has not really started properly yet, which i think i should as 26.2 miles is a long way!! Finding it hard to get going at the mo, but when the nights get a bit brighter and the weather better i will start road walking for a few miles, better than stuck in a gym. Anyone got any fun ways of training?? Do you go in groups or on your own?
Take Care
Jo

Hi Jo, I'm also doing the moonwalk in May. Hope your training going to plan. I've found listening to music as you walk is great, being a lone walker apart from when i can drag the other half along I find it helps the miles go by. I have had a bit of injury myself but gonna give it my best shot. Good Luck on the night.

Anybody out there got a miracle cure for plantar fascitis would be immensly grateful.
Best wishes
Chris

I missed out on the Moonwalk this year, but am planning on being there next year.

I DID do a 5k Race for Life today though and had a tremendous time.

If you want to see how best to treat plantar fasiciitis see here:

Hiya Chris,

Just wanted to say hiya to another P/F suffer.  Flipping painful isn't it.  Have you ever had a steriod injction for it?  VVVV painful but did help sort mine for a good 6 months, worth speaking to your Doctor about.  Also if you can get an appointment with a specialist foot physio they may be able to teach you to tape it up, pulling the muscles ect into a comfortble position.  I bought some running socks that have extra support about the arch, from JJB.  Sorbothane insoles, from most good walking shops, very good.  And finally, a can of cold drink ( i find lager best as my husband looks gutted when his beer is rolloing under my foot)  rolled under the heel and arch is really good for calming the burning pain.  I shall also be keeping my ibuprofen levels topped up in the next few days as th full moon approaches.

Good Luck to you on the night.  Look out for me and my sister in law, who will be in pink leggings, pink pom pom bras and pink fairy wings with our Tinklers Totty name on, officailly we are yellows, but moving into the pink start time to be with our new chum Tabitha.  We've trained together and are soooooo glad to be together on th night.

Love From Emma-lou XXX

Hi

Great to see fellow moonwalkers. Well tonight is the night, are you ready? I am getting excited. We have trained pretty religiously, lets hope it was enough. Bras are decorated, bum bag packed.

What are you taking in your bum bag?

Are you taking a bag to stow away? We were thinking there will be big queues to get it back, so we are trying not to and just do with a bum bag and a carrier bag with food/drink, which we can just throw away. Interested to hear what others are doing.

See you all tonight!

Pauline

I am doing the Edinburgh one next month for the first time.  Really worried as 26 miles seems an age, and during the night.  For those of you who have done one before is it easier or harder than you thought?

Any hints or tips on what to carry with you.  Have had no information from the organisers about route.  Are there toilets, water stops etc?

Any advice welcomed.

Hi, me and my friend will do the Edinburgh Moonwalk in June too. We opted for the half marathon though, not brave enough for the full one. Where are you from? We are trying to figure out how we will get back to Blantyre/Hamilton in the morning. If anybody from this area is going, how do you get there and back? I don't really fancy driving after walking 13 miles.

Three of us are from Aberdeen and will have a long drive home after it, but hopefully we will be on a high after completing the 26 miles and be able to stay awake for the drive home.

Good luck on the night.

hi ndposhbird

there are five of us doing the moonwalk this year - all essex girls  -  we havent done it before so a bit scared at all that walking.  We have been training pretty hard and have got up to 12 miles as our furthest distance in about 3 hours.  You are more than welcom to join us if you are alone - the more the merrier.  We can arrange details nearer the time.  Although my friend so kindly informs us that we only have 12 weeks to go
