Hi Everyone
I have been training for this years FLM since Oct last year and have completed a maximum of 11miles in one run. I have been very pleased with myself as I'm new to running and although running for a good cause, I'm keen to prove to myself I have a Marathon in me!!
After my last 2 long runs I have had suffered with extensive swelling and fluid on my knees. The first time I rested for 3 weeks as it took that long for the swelling to go and I am currently resting again from my run this Sun 10th Feb. I guess I will be out for another couple of weeks.
I have been advised that I risk permanent damage if I continue.
Should I pull out now so my place can be given to someone else or should I rest and give it another go?
If I pull out what happens to the sponsorship money people have given me via the justgiving site?
Can anyone offer an opinion.
Thanks
Munch

Not sure about the justgiving site side of things, but if you've got a golden bond place, let your chairty know as soon as possible that you won't be able to run - they'll quite possibly have reserves able to take your place and still raise money for your charity.
If it's your own place, the deadline is effectively the day before the race each year for pulling out, and they don't get redistributed, so there's no rush in that sense. Certainly for your wellbeing it sounds like defering for a year would make sense, maintaining your fitness (maybe do a half marathon once recovered from your knee problems) and carry on training again for 2009.
