Sorry that you are not going to Cuba Angie but all the best for Jordan.
Donna, let me know where that big muddy puddle is so I can avoid it, with my short legs I'd be up to my knees and probably have to crawl out.
If anyone is still looking for fund raising events, a sponsored walk is a good one. I raised a good chunk of my target and it also opens it out to more people and not just the long suffering family.

Fantastic news Angie, well done. You must have been knackered! Bet you were relieved about the weather.
I have some fantastic news of my own on a non fund raising note, my hubby registered my car (its a jap import) insured and taxed it as a suprise for me. Wasn't expecting to get it done till next year. Its a really cute retro looking thing called a figaro. Have a look on the net and be jealous!
Amanda, you are having a really good burst of ideas, any news on the chest waxing laddie? How did you pluck up the nerve to ask the chap about the restaurant one, that's so clever.
Yep, Deena's sponsored walk was a really good idea, nice leisurely walk with a very welcome cup of tea at the end. I think she raised quite a bit. You wouldn't find that blooming puddle on a run of the mill ride, I went past the masts and ended up on the A5. Don't ask! Rob just looked at me....
Will be handing in a letter to the local garden centre today, they'll let me stand outside with a collection tin to raise funds, last time I did it managed to raise about £200.00 in a couple of hours. with things being tighter this year probs won't raise as much though. Will write to Morrisons about trolley collecting this weekend.

yep
was knackered
also think i underpriced myself as people were commenting on how cheap the burgers were!!
but once you have started selling them you cant increase the price!!
next weekend is the funday which i also have a food stall on, no BBQ, thank god, but a spicy food stall, currys etc, i am hoping that will do better as the dads always clear us out of curry when they have had a few pints!!
little and often eh!!

SO sorry to hear you are not joining us, Angie. Hope it all goes well for Jordon!
Just got back from a week at my brothers in North Wales (doing mad mountain biking as well as other things!) and got my letter - I couldn't belive how much extra money I am gonna have to come up with! And there is no way I will raise extra - I will probably have to add to my fundraising just to get to the £3K anyway!
Anyway, thats not the point of this post - I also received my letter about the Sept training days and saw that many of you guys are going too! I have booked in to the YH under women for women for the Friday and Sat nights - and I see some of you are meeting up there! I know I have been quiet on the forum recently, but I promise I'll do better...and can I join you guys on Friday night? My hubby is dropping me off, I will have no bike and will be a bit stranded there! And how are you getting to the ride start on Saturday? I was guessing I may need to get a taxi, or does anyone have space for a littl'un in their car?
Did a sponsered 2 hour spin this morning - 18 people paid between 5 and 10 quid to spin for 2 hours! It was great fun, and I raised £130!
Anyway..I will be keeping more active on the forum now iof thats OK with you lot - no excuses for past few months, just 2 jobs, 2 kids and a small cycle ride to train for....

Hi Sarah,
Nice to see you back again, did wonder where you had got to. I'm only staying the Saturday night at the yh as my raffle is on the Saturday morning.
Are you still doing the weather forcast on the Thurs morning, I don't tend to watch tv first thing, I've only seen you the once.
How could you spin for 2hrs, I do 2mins and I'm shattered, well done for raising £130. I think everyone is finding the extra money hard. The way things are going it could go up even more.
I've spoken to a few people about the money box idea that you have to open with a can opener. Lots of people have said that they would be happy to have a can to chuck their change in. Just not sure where to get the money boxes from.
I can see why you were worried about your disco Donna, I've had people say they're interested but no one has bought any tickets. When do I need to start panicing!

Hey all,
Sarah, nice to see you back, don't worry loads of us just pop in and out! Has anyone heard from Aly and Suzi? There's a few of us staying both nights at the hostel so it should be fun.
Sarah, don't panic if people are showing interest just keep plugging it, pin them down. Most of my tickets sales came in over the last 3 weeks. Oh and I've booked the hall for next year..... not that I'm intending to cycle an event next year. Did you look back through the posts to see who suggested it, they could perhaps point you in the direction of where to get them, but the collection tins should work.
Has anyone seen Mama Mia, just been with mum and Sis, it was great. Felt like we should have applauded at the end, but didn't want to look like a numpty so didn't.

Hi Ladies,
I just can't keep up with you. All I have to do is blink, and the forum takes off.
Angie, sorry to hear you'll not be joining us in Cuba - its looming up so soon - I too wish I had more time for the training. Cycled with Jane, Donna and Deena on the 12th, and boy did I suffer on those hills. I felt really unfit. It was a real wake-up call for me to start taking my gym work more seriously. I had become slack in the gym, and that really did show.
Sarah M, sorry to hear your knee's troubling you - hope phsyio sorts it out. Thanks for the invite to your disco - your timing sucks Sarah - a day before our training weekend. I don't know if it's just me being daft as usual, but I couldn't respond on Facebook - wasn't allowing me to write my message, so please put me down for a ticket. I physically can't make it, but will be there in spirit.
I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of you ladies at the August training weekend. If anyone else is coming to my BBQ please let me know - aiming to start at 7.00 p.m, no problem if you arrive earlier. Please let me know if you have any special requirements, vegetarian, etc.
Well done to everyone on your fundraising efforts so far - keep your spirits up. I'm just waiting for the latest copy of our internal newspaper before I do a collection. I hope people are going to be generous.
I'll email directions as soon as numbers are confirmed.
Look forward to seeing you all soon.
Mavis xx

hi
Yes, went to see Mama Mia last week it was brill. Had to stop myself singing all the songs and standing up and dancing.
Had my first Hep B jab today and so far so good.
Did not do any cycling at weekend as much too windy.
Sarah, I got my tins from the charity. I just phoned them and they posted them to me.

Hi everyone,
It was the suggestion about the tin cans that I liked, you have to open them with a tin opener. I've got collection boxes, but I thought it would be a nice idea to give my friends a tin that they could put in their kitchen or somewhere just to chuck their loose change in.
I cycled to work today and didn't have any problems with my knee, hopefully the exercises and deep massage I'm giving my leg is helping.
I'm working on the Friday but hoping to finish early, I shall pop to the yh first and hopefully meet up with some of the others so we can all drive to your house together Mavis.
I'm doing a display at my friends shop and selling raffle tickets on Wednesday, hopefully I'll sell lots. At the moment anyone that has bought a raffle ticket has a very good chance of winning.
Why have you had a Hep B jab today, is it to do with your job Deena?

Sarah glad to hear your knee is holding up.
Managed to follow that restaurant idea up and yes it is going ahead but unfortunately date has been put back by 2 weeks so it won't be happening till after the deadling for funds being handed in. I am not overpricing it and just asking for a 5 pound donation from every customer which i think is very fair for a meal and entertainment. It is going to be covered in the local paper so the restaurant wil get good publicity before and afterwards.
Talking of publicity i am having photo shoot with bike next wednesday and they are going to run that piece first then the other one closer to the night in Sept so working on 2 newspaper articles!!
Loads of posters have been distributed for car boot sale on sunday so fingers crossed for fine weather and good turn out of punters.
Went for bike ride this morning 25 miles clocked but it was HOT god help us in Cuba.
Off for lunch now and then to bed for a couple of hours hopefully as doing a night shift tonight
Hope everyone is keeping up the good work
Amanda

Hi girls,
Still alive and watching you all from afar. I am having major computer problems just now and my compiter throwing everything back at me. I am on a computer at work so trying this one!!
Everyone still seems so positive nad doing well. Sorry tohear some of the girls have had to drop out of Cuba but hey it is a fun, fundraising 10days and theminute it encroaches on home life or anything else we need to to take a wee step back and take stock. You will all have a ball in Jordan and I am thinking of doing this as well but I feel I need to get Cuba under my belt first in case I fail miserably!!News since I spoke to you all last.
I was away last week at the world fire and rescue championships in Cardiff with my local fire boys. I train them in trauma extrication. Anyway we are just a wee retained team and we just started entering competitions last year.
We came 9th in the world out of 36 and are all over the moon.
It was a fantastic 5 days away but not good for an old grannies constitution. They dont have build these firefighters well. I came over all funny and the boys were saying it was the heat. Was it heck as like . 2 of the young firefighters from America and Germany stripped of beside us to get ready for the worlds fittest firefighter cometition. Oh my God... Anyway least said soonest mended.
Hopefully now I can get on to site at work I can keep sneaking a shot until I get mine fixed.
Wishing you all well. I am struggling with the weight and have not lost anything for weeks but thinking positive have still kept the 3.7 stone of so big achievement for me. Hopoefully it will start to come of again. I am not getting enought time to train as we are in the height of the summer and every waking minute is either at work or getting the house ready for the guests. Never mind seasons are short so wont be long before I have no excuse s and very l;ittle time left before we go.
Keep fund raising, Keep cycling but most of all keep happy, healthy and smiling.
