Hi there,

Just wanted to ask what happens if I create an account in the Uk and family members from the US would like to sponsor me? Is it possible for them to sponsor me from the US, using USD on the internet....despite the exchange rate and currency conversion would they be able to sponsor me?

Many thanks!!

For anyone wondering about this here is a mail I received from Justgiving...

-----------------------------

Thank you for your email.

We can only accept the payment in £GBP and that is the only currency you will see on our site.

Please make any potential US donors aware of this.

I hope this helps.

Thank you again for using Justgiving.

------------------------------------

Due to a US donar wanting to give $50 and entering 50 in my donation box they ended up giving twice what they wished. How hard is it to display a drop down with currancies. Even if it just converts the amount back to GBP? Or have a currency converter on the page? It`s not rocket science.

You`ve missed a trick there guys. I`ve had to put a disclaimer on my page and from the feedback I received it`s scaring people off.  "This site only accepts donations of  Pounds, please check your currency for a conversion rate before donating"

Not only is the charity losing out, your 5% is gone as well. The web is worldwide as are my friends and colleagues. I`m sorry I didn`t notice this before I used this site for my first charity sponsorship. Sadly I wont be using it for my second.

Global giving is the way forward. Maybe someone else can plug this gap in the market?
