OMG Elaine, you poor thing, but at least you've got it off your chest. Nice to know that I'm useful for something!
You can do hills, it must have been the pedal cage. Needless to say with my luck I won't be cylcing tooooo close to you!
Hills are good. IOW is bad. Oh yeah it has hills. Good idea though fund raising through bruises.
Is anyone else feeling listless this week?

Amanda,
What are you like, I could get my violin out. Of course your ok. Everyone will want to come and be pampered. Everyone feels that way when they organise something........ Any how it will be great to see everyone at the youth hostel in August.
Suzi have you managed to book your B&B yet?
Its a lovely day up here and I've just been round the local resi, decided to cycle there, ride round, its only 5 miles then walk round for a bit of extra exercise..... it bloody well took me 2 hours to walk 5 miles! I'm not doing that again. Then I had to cycle home, which only took 20 mins. Oh and I did see Deena, she was on her bike with cycling with her hubby, had what looks like a very set of nasty injuries falling off her bike. Bloody knees grazed elbows that sort of thing.. Yuk! Note to self, put plasters and antiseptic wipes in bag just in case.
By the way is anyone out there or are you all on your hols?

Hi Amanda, your pampers sound a bargain. I should hope that your mates give you a lot of financial support with the evening too. Get everyone to bring a dish or bottle of something. At the price you are charging you are at risk of being out of pocket. I dont know how many people do the treatments but as it can be a lot of work for one make sure you have others on hand to help. Try the local beauty colleges for students willing to help and build up their portfolios. You will have a fab evening and if I was closer I would be with you. WE ALL THINK YOU ARE GREAT.
Hi Donna, do you think we are all going through the lovely period of enjoying a gentle bike ride and the benifits. I dont want a challenge yet, I want to go out with the breeze through my hair, basket on the front of the bike and whistling a tune as the early morning chorus of awakening birds joins me. Reality is I put on so much protective gear in case I do the A... over T.. thing again. Deena is proof that biking is bad....
X Elaine

Thank Donna and elaine for the moral uplift i was on a bit of a downer - i go through phases like that i have a very negative impression of myself.
Anyway a little more about the papmer night. One of the midwives also teaches beauty at the local achievement trainig and has a couple of friends helping her and another midwife who dowes massage has volunteered her services so 4 therapists up to yet. The main one leesha is also going to try and get some students and has managed to convince achievment training to allow her to use their stuff and do it under their "banner" to give a bit of promotion for them.
Been a little lazy on bike over last week or so and been doing gym more, definately building stamina up. Got a lovely compliment off an ex marine who said he was very impressed on my ability on treadmill and bike so something must be working. On bike today though as gorgeous sunshine will be back on later as i have used it to come home and i have to get back to Iain's later. Return journey more up hill
Hope all iare well

Just a quickie,
Sue with the james bond night, how did it go? been so much going on forgot to ask.
Hey well done with the compliment Amanda, was the ex marine fit, only in a fitness way of course? Your doing well with the keep fit, I've been trying to track mine in my diary.
Had text from Deena, it's a bit painful and she had to go to the hosp to have it 'glued' it did look a little deep!!!!!! YUK.

Hi
I am feeling not listless but very annoyed with myself. I parted company with my bike yesterday and now have a badly gashed knee and will not be able to train for a few days. Fortunately my bike was OK and I came off worse and hope to be back in the saddle soon.
I am really looking forward to the August 2-3 ride so that I can meet some more of my fellow cyclists.
My sponsored walk was very successful and pushed me further towards my target.

Hi All,
Hope everyone is doing ok.
Well, my knee has now gone back to normal - we have a spate of pregnancies at work and they labelled my knee "6-months pregnant"!! - so I'm cycling to work now and wouldn't you know it ... i got knocked off my bike by some STUPID woman in her Ford Ka!! I wasn't using the cycle lane because there was a multitude of school kids on the pavement and I didn't want to knock into them so I was on the road and wearing my high viz jacket. This stupid woman clips my right wrist as she "over-takes" me and because I'm near the kerb I'm wobbling over and hopping on one foot to keep my balance. Luckily the bike managed to stay upright. Maybe her sunglasses were too dark to see - stupid idiot!! I was so cross that I made it to work in record time!!
OK, whinge over ... so the September ride - where is everyone staying?? Is there enough room in the Youth Hostel?? I completely forgot to book anything!!

OMG, are you ok, shock or what. Did she stop? Did she apologise? or is that a stupid question. How on earth did she get so close to you? Was her labrador in the car with her?
Don't think that was a whinge, more of a necessary rant......
Youth hostel should be fine they are holding until July I think. If you want to book in I've put the provisional booking under the name of women for women, so quote that.
Glad to hear that you sound physically ok.

It took me a while to get your joke about the labrador!! O dear!! She did stop and said sorry but I wasn't very polite to her I'm afriad to admit!!
O Sarah B, I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes I'm all geared up for this and other times I'm like Why Bother?? I don't think the weather helps but we're all in the same place. It'll all be worth it in the end, especially when you cross the finishing line in Cuba and realise that you've done it and that we're all proud of you!!
Sam.

Something to make you laugh
|
|
|
|
|
Hi All,
Something I got sent at work, just to make you laugh and put a smile on our faces:
Subject: One of the funniest complaint letters...
TO: MR. JAMEST HATCHER
BRAND MANAGER, PROCTER & GAMBLE
Dear Mr. Thatcher
I have been a loyal user of your Always maxi pads for over 20 years, and I
appreciate many of their features. Why, without the LeakGuard Core(tm) or
Dri-Weave(tm) absorbency, I'd probably never go horse riding or salsa
dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the beach in
tight, white shorts. But my favorite feature has to be your revolutionary
Flexi-Wings. Kudos on being the only company smart enough to realize how
crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I can't tell you how safe and
secure I feel each month knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants.
Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? Ever suffered from 'the
curse'? I'm guessing you haven't. Well, my 'time of the month' is starting
right now. As I type, I can already feel hormonal forces violently surging
through my body. Just a few minutes from now, my body will adjust and I'll
be transformed into what my husband likes to call 'an inbred hillbilly with
knife skills.' Isn't the human body amazing?
As brand manager in the feminine-hygiene division, you've no doubt seen
quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your customers'
monthly visits from Aunt Flo. Therefore, you must know about the bloating,
puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about our intense mood swings, crying
and out-of-control behavior. You surely realise it's a tough time for most
women. In fact, only last week, my friend Jennifer fought the violent urge
to shove her boyfriend's testicles into a George Foreman Grill just because
he told her he thought Grey's Anatomy was written by drunken chimps.
Crazy! The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that the UK is just
crawling with homicidal maniacs in capri pants. Which brings me to the
reason for my letter.
Last month, while in the throes of cramping so painful I wanted to reach
inside my body and yank out my uterus, I opened an Always maxi pad, and
there, printed on the adhesive backing, were these words: 'Have a Happy
Period.'
Are you *+*#*ing kidding me?
What I mean is, does any part of your tiny middle-manager brain really think
happiness - actual smiling, laughing happiness - is possible during a
menstrual period? Did anything mentioned above sound the least bit
pleasurable?
Well, did it, James? FYI, unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak girl,
there will never be anything 'happy' about a day in which you have to jack
yourself up on Nurofen and Kahlúa and lock yourself in your house just so
you don't march down to the local Tesco's armed with a hunting rifle and a
sketchy plan to end your life in a blaze of glory. For the love of God, pull
your head out, man. If you just have to slap a moronic message on a maxi
pad, wouldn't it make more sense to say something that's actually pertinent,
like 'Put Down the Hammer' or' Vehicular Manslaughter Is Wrong'?- Or are you
just picking on us?
Sir, please inform your accounting department that, effective immediately,
there will be an £8 drop in monthly profits, for I have chosen to take my
maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly miss your
Flexi-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your brand of condescending
bullsh1t. And that's a promise I will keep. Always.
Best,
Wendi
I'm still crying!!
Sam.

Wow,
There must be something weird in the air filtering over the British Isles. I've just had 2 days off on the sick feel really down in the dumps, which is most unlike me, been feeling sorry for myself coz my ankle is playing up a bit, wondering if I'll manage cycling every day for 5 days..... But I am going to.
Angie, when you start the new job things will just fall into place. hopefully it'll be ok, hope you don't have to change dates but if you do you do! come on though chin up who else is gonna feel sorry enough to want to room with me. People's tummy's always need filling.
Sarah, you'll be fine , you still have the quiz night, and the band night, what's the profit on your tickets? You should be ok. I was a nervous wreck up until the hall started filling up. They do have a following right....... so won't alot of them be coming?
and the other things you've got going on. You'll be making me feel guilty soon. EEIKKKK.....
Sam, couldn't help the dog thing. loved the story.
Anyhow we are here for each other for the down's as well as the ups, no one said it was easy. thats me done on the soapbox.
