Hey .. thought I'd write in pink today as its so gloomy outside  Umbrella [um] .. hehe

Excellent time Sarah .. stuff only dreams are made of this end .. I need an ar*e kicker too Snail [sn]

Well I did finally pin down a date for the hall .. thought if I don't do something either way it wont happen. Time is ticking and as I'll be away for 5 weeks I have to get as much organising and posters out before that to get on with it fully as soon as I return. Date is September 20th!! So fingers crossed now that I can get the entertainment. I really don't know what I am going to do on the night to be honest with you, and that bit really scares the crap out of me! I will call justdance again today and see if they can accomodate that day otherwise I'll have to get a band in. Don't think the ska band would be fitting for a cuban theme night. What sort of decoration would I have to put up etc.. the mind is frazzled now Geeked [8-|]

Been pretty full on at work again this week, did extra again yesterday and doing the same today as the bar manager collapsed yesterday, poor fella has been really over doing it. Never had anyone collapse like that in front of me before, so not knowing much I checked for pulse as he was fully unconcious and put him in recovery position while the landlord called for an ambulance. Then we did the other checks like tilt his head, to check his airway etc. He complained of pains in his head before he fell, and his eyes rolled. This isn't the first time this happened either so hopefully they wont let him home now til they find out why it is!

working til 6 tonight, but tomorrow til 3 then at club from 7 -12 , but fortunately have most of the weekend off, so after a rest I will try  muster up some motivation to get out for a ride.

Keep up the good work girls

Julz xx

Hi ladies,

Hope everyone's ok.

Julz how's your bar manager? Great news about getting the room organised, fantastic. It'll be a fab night. wish I could go away for 5 weeks OMG what heaven that would be!

How's everyone getting on? I'm holding a stall next week at a local fete, will be wrapping up bottles of wine in crepe paper and if anyone pulls a full one out they win it. Hoping this should raise abit, going to make fudge and cakes and ask my daughter to come and help with the stall.

Is anyone else coming to Jane's over the weekend?

And to top it all I think its 5 months today till we go!!!!!

I have been reading all your posts, its great to see your all getting on so well.

I have been out for a 20mile ride with Chris, my cycle buddy, it was great, he's of to do his London to Paris Cylcle ride on Tuesday, and his back on Sunday. I am of to Spain on Tuesday 24th to my sister for a week. But he has promised to continue cycling with me when we both get back and help me with my quiz night in August.

I am now of to have a shower, and go to the hairdressers. God knows when the housework will get done my house looks like a tip, and I am going out with my girlfriends tonight, and fathers day tomorrow with everyone decending on me. Anyone know of a good maid, who will do the nightshift, or will that be me!

I hope you all have a great weekend at Janes, sorry I couldnt be there. But I will be coming in August, not booked room yet, but I might look for a local B@B.

Happy National Bike Week
Reply Quote
Hi Ladies,

Great to see that everyone is getting along well with their fund-raising and training.

Well, I've decided to make the most of the glorious sunshine today and have a great start to the National Bike Week and wouldnt you know it I've gone through 3 (yes 3!!) inner tubes today!! - and all of them on the bliming rear tyre!! So it is safe to say that the only good thing to come out of today is that I can now change a rear tyre in about 20mins!! Do you think it could be the way I ride?? Crying [:'(]

I'm all signed up on the Solent Coast Ride next Saturday - who else is going and what time are people meeting??

Keep up the good work all!!

Sam.

Hi everyone

Hardly ever get chance to read your posts these days - life is a bit mad - but it looks like you are all doing really well - some of you scare me!!  But my fundraising is OK (I dont think I'll make it to £3000, but I am doing my best!), and the training is OK too - jealous of some of my friends who are currently on their way from London to Brighton whilst I am stuck on an early 5-live shift!  Oh well.

Main reason for writing is this...is anyone else going to Stratford in Sept?  Has anyone booked any accomodation?  I am going along, and have just persuaded hubby to let me stay there overnight whilst he looks after kiddies, so would love to meet up with any of you guys that are going along!

Next broadcast approaches...

See ya soon

Nicky sorry to hear you have been poorly-speak to you soon. With regard to the equipment , they tell me a camelbak is a must, someone more informed than me will be aliong shortly.

In terms of motivation, why don't you call afc and tell them how little time you feel you have left to get fit for the challenge, I did this and they were very helpful. they kind of break it downn for you, you confirm that you are able to commit to the training and that puts things back into perspective. the next ting to do is - just do it. I went out on my own yesterday and it was fine, but I am sure that there are others that are going on the trip in your area. Maybe ask afc for some names and numbers. Hope this helps.

Most of all; Don't panic

Lorraine

Hi girls,

Wow the board moves so quickly if you don't get on for a day or so!

Lorraine if you did the Sunday at New Forest then its def you with the gloves, apparently they are call crocheted....

Sarah, there are quite a few of us stopping over for the official AFC ride in Sept, so you won't be on your own.

Suzi New. The YHA is in Alveston, for the ride in aug, there may be B&B's there and I know now that you need your home comforts... you do make me laugh.... How did Chris get on with his ride?

Sorry to hear you've been poorly Nicky, a couple of the girls at work have been ill, I'm just trying to stay away from them. Did you ring AFC?

Did a ride out Leicester way with Janey, Oh my goodness we came down this wonderful one lane country road out of a really lovely village called Saddington, there looked like a very gentle incline in the distance about 1/3 of the way up a man on a horse went past and said 'really admire you ladies, this is a bit of a steep hill' Well, round the bend from then on it was like a bloody cliff face. Needless to say neither of us managed to get to the top in one go!

Can't remember who was asking if anyone is in their area for cycling buddy, but have you looked at the list that AFC sent?

Ally, how are you getting on, know your out there!

Hi Girls

Back at work on night duty after a week away in the tent. Had a lovely time with my daughter. Took the bikes with us with good intentions of seeing some of the cannock chase cycles routes but spent so much time with Natalie and on the day we didn't see her it chucked it down with rain so we never managed a single ride but it was worth it for seeing Nat. Got on my bike today and did 25 miles and god did i feel it as the New Forest was the last time out on my bike and any exercise at all so really felt it, Doreen i now exactly how you must have felt in the New Forest.

Nicky - I think Lyme Regis is a little out of range for me to meet up (I am in Plymouth) shame really as i am on my own and i found cycling with the girls in the new forest and IOW very beneficial and a lot more fun.

Seriously thinking about the Aug meet up have put request in i think i will just bite the bullet and book the YH and hope for the best for my shifts they seem to be pretty good at honouring what i ask for.

Amanda

Hi Nicky,

I'm in Bournemouth but that's a bit away from Lyme Regis. I was planning on doing some days heading in your direction after the Sandbanks Ferry so maybe we could arrange some days and meet half way.

I'm also in serious need of motivation. Just getting over a stinking cold which of course is playing havoc with my asthma which means i can't go very far on the bike!! sigh ... I'm sure we all would enjoy it more if we didnt have this fund-raising hanging around our necks!!

Anyone solve a dilemma for me:
24inch wheel rims with 26 x 1.75 tyres...
Some are telling me I need 26inch inner tubes and some are telling me I need 24 inch. In your opinion which is it?? I've tried both and suffered punctures on both - my inner wheel is clean so is it the way I ride??

Sam.

Hi Sam
I went to Halfords today, I wrote down what was on the side of my tyre and asked them which one I needed. I've got one that supposed to mend itself if it gets a puncture. I also have Kevlar between my inner tube and tyre which is supposed to help stop punctures, which costs between £9 - £11 pounds to put in per tyre. I've not had a puncture yet, I've done over 400 miles on my bike.
By the way, I'm back from hols and very sorry to say I bought all the bad weather back with me.

Hope you get over your cold soon Sam.

Take care
Sarah xx

Hi Sam,

It could be something in your wheel rim that's sticking out and pinches the inner while your riding, might be worth the kevlar thing or line the rim with electrical tape. Sorry don't know about inner tube sizing's though...... Come on Sam we're all behind you, its just the horrid cold bringing you down.

By the time you all look into the forum next you'll have done your solent ride. Hope it all went well.

I'm supposed to be holding a stall at the local fete and its chucking it down. 15 bottles of wine, 24 bags of fresh fudge, one teddy to get rid of. loads of signs printed. All prep done and its chucking it down!!!! Poor hubby is going to suggest don't go as he'll be helping me to erect the gazebo. Mum (who's helping) will suggest not going, she won't want to get soaked....Arrrrggghhh RAIN.......

But its supposed to be a challenge right! Almost hysterical laughter, was up till 10.30 making delicious fudge, could just sit and eat it for breakfast now.

How's everyone else getting on? haven't heard from a few of you for ages.

Angie, hows the cycling with the boys going? Aly how are you?

I am really worried now... wonder if I am going to be able to get up day after day in Cuba! Managed to do Lymington to Hamble legs totalling 69.4 kms (43.2 miles) which is my longest ride ever! Sorry I didn't complete, but as my ex had spat the dummy, my mum kindly travelled down Friday after work from London to be at mine to look after my girls so wanted to take her for dinner Sat evening by way of thanks as she was having to head home back to London way sunday morning!
My darling daughter lit candles and ran a bath ready for me to soak in once I got home, and mum had done my laundry. I am truly blessed!

It was a really good day, with ok weather, and great company. Look forward to September as it's the next one I can make. Who from this way is going? As I might be able to borrow a campervan. If I do I could take 3 on board. It sleeps at least 4 I believe, and bikes can just fit inside. Would save having to find accomodation then, and cut travel costs.

How's everyone else?
