Hi There - You could try HobbyCraft or a similar type of craft store they do a suprising number of things like that, alternatively somewhere like office world do a tshirt transfer sheet for imposing photographs they may have something similar for letters.
I'm not sure about the Marathon Expo event.
Good Luck

You could take your vest/shirt into your local sport shop and ask them to do it. One of my local shops prints names on the back of footie shirts etc. Also JJB used to sell the iron on letters. Hope that is of some help

Know its a bit of lateral thinking but have you tried asking your local Secondary school Art Dept? Maybe they could come up with something Screen Printed (Less Weight) or a one off masterpiece to advertise your charity. Has a double benefit as it gets the kids involved if only to see if they can spot you on route. Yours Aye - Big Red

hi Joe,
Yes we can send you the entire Iron-on Transfer, pre-spaced ready to apply (best to take it to a t shop to apply).
I recommend the Vinyl Transfer Type (screen printed look/durability), the same type used on proffesional team jerseys.
I think 2 1/2" tall letters in the Rockit font style (sporty)...layout something like this:
JOE
I (Red-HEART) YOU
MOUSE
what color do you need the letters, they come in about 30 colors....please email me the details...your ship to address etc.
oh...we are in Toronto Canada.
cheers

Hi I am guessing your name is Lucy
Thanks so much for this I have actually used your w/s to order the letters singularly - Please feel free to hijack the order and create a transfer if you think it will be easier for me I was was just unsure as I do not have the running vest yet and have no idea of the size/shape so thought it might be better to get the letters individually. I also ordered 4" letters on reflection that may be too big!!! Can I have smaller 21/2" for the JOE and leave it as bigger for the rest which are going on my back........sorry to be such a pain. My paypal reference is 2066-9986-2926-8386. Let me know if you require further payment etc.
One last thing any advice on how to apply without ruining the vest and/or the letters would be appreciated! Thanks for all your help. Joe

Lucy
have just been to your website but wanted to check a couple of things before ordering:
(i) can the letters be ironed onto "technical" running T-shirts (ie not cotton)
(ii) how do you set what size you want? I wanted "TONY" x 2, once in black, once in white (vinyl), Tiffany lettering, capitals - could not find the option to specify what size of letters?
Great site BTW, seems it is almost unique on the web!
Tony

Wow...thanks for all your support everyone.
Hi Tony,
the vinyl iron-on material is often used on professional team jerseys... polyesters and cotton/poly blends. We do have a special Vinyl that is used on Nylon and fabrics of this type but we do not sell it for Home Iron application...it requires an imprintables trade person to apply. Please check your garment fabric content label before you order...we always send free extras to practice/test etc.
regarding your second question, that end of the site " custom slogans " is very basic. We are not expert web programers, so we ask on the site for the client to provide details with the order....like if you want all uppercase letters etc... or how wide you want the entire Slogan, this way we make the slogan letters according to how wide you want the entire slogan so that it fits nice in porpotion to the shirt and does not end up under arm pits... LOL.
We did have a User Imput Letter Size Options in the past, but clients would choose the letter size too big not thinking that the entire word would be too wide for a chest-size print on a t-shirt for example. So we removed that option.
As a general rule, girls/ladies shirts chest prints are 6-8 inches wide max., Guy/Unisex shirts are 8-10 inches wide max. For the back of shirts add 2 inches....more info about this here - Project Help : http://www.spot98.net/faq/project_help.html#print_size
any other questions let me know.
thanks again everyone. Cheers !

"lucy can you do sheets with names on it in gold and silver with the font being around 10mm?"
Yes.
There are 2 standard iron-on transfer making processes that can be used to produce silver or gold iron-on transfers of high detail text/names/graphics.
1. Computer Cut Text/Designs from Iron-on Transfer Material Rolls.
In this case you are looking for Gold or Silver, there is a wide range of colors in metallic, glitters, holographic and foils iron on materials that come in roll format. These materials can be cut in extreme detail and are ideal for 1 off's, small quantity. They can also overlay or reproduce 1,2,3 color art/graphic text or designs.
The downside here, is that with high detail art, including tiny size text/art or multiple layers and colors... this will take more time to make.
Why ?
Well, the finishing part of this computer cut process involves what is called in the imprint trade as "Weeding". Yep, Weeding.
Weeding is the term used for the work of removing the extra Iron-on Material Off the transfer sheet that you do not want to print on the shirt. So the more art detail the more complex the Weeding becomes...but it can be done, it just takes more time.
Some photos from a few years ago that shows one of the girls Weeding a Transfer: http://www.spot98.net/faq/weeding.html
2. Screen Printed Iron-on Transfers
These transfers are made the same way as the traditional screen printing process using plastisol inks for the most part. With this process you also have the option of a wide variety of Gold and Silver inks and they too can be made in multi color (1-2-3 etc. colors in your design).
They are made in standard sheets sizes like 10"x11.5" and larger. So if your design is small you could fit a bunch per sheet, aka Ganging Designs using the same colors.
With this process, an adhesive can also be screen printed on the finishing to make the transfer extra durable in the wash and wear. This is Ideal for stretch knit fabrics.
The downside? not cost effective for 1 Off's. Minimums are usually 100 qty for 10"x11.5" sheet size plus screen burning costs.
Conclusion to this long post...
If you just need a few, perhaps go with Option 1 and do the WEEDING yourself to reduce the cost of paying someone else to Weed high detail or tiny text/designs. Gee...have a weeding party and get your friends involved.
OR
Buy in-stock 1" Tall Upcase (lowercase some letters are smaller) Alphabet Sheets in Glitter Silver and Gold, cut the letters off the sheet and DIY...very cost effective but not available in 10mm tall. Some of these iron on letters here: www.spot98.net/htdocs/lettering.html
But Yes, it can be done. It really depends on the finish design/concept required, processes and materials available and how much your budget allows you to spend.
Personally, I like things hand made.
