Your event sounds ace! glad it all went well, I was surprised how generous people were at my event too.
I got over £2000 in one day as well, mine was a 12-hour Music Marathon.
It was brill, i organised it with my school and my friends, we had over 40 musicians all from school providing 12 hours of nonstop music! I got sponsorship from companies in return for advertising with the event, the computer shop where I work has a giant printer for printing A0 posters (80cm x 120cm), so I could put lots of big company logos on them. The sponsorship from companies netted about £500!
I got another £350 sponsorship from friends, and generous donations of £100+ from my grandparents and other family members. Then i also asked every other participating musician to collect sponsorship from their friends and family. I actually don't yet know how much this'll bring in
The real big surprise was the generosity of visitors on the day. The concert ran from 9am-9pm in a local church in the middle of town (we weren't charged for hiring it). We decided entry should be free, so people could come and go as they please, and we sold cakes, tea, coffee, home-made fudge, even second-hand books and of course put out buckets for donations. I expected this to raise about £400, instead we went home with over £1000!
It was a fantastic day, also slightly surreal, I had strangers come up to me and press money into my hands, and was visited by two TV crews!
I think once I've got all the sponsorship in, the event will have raised at least £2000, more like £2300!! I owe a lot to my friends and my music teacher especially for all their help.
