Hi sarabear
I'm sure you'll do fine, if I can make it round a 10k at 54 then you can too before you are 50!! Seriously now, I completed my 1st 10k for Cancer Research UK at Dunsfold Aerodrome on Sunday, 16 September with a respectable time of 1hr 22mins 56secs. I paced myself all the way round so that I made it to the finishing line in one piece, and there were so many kind people there cheering us all on, it was such a great experience. I too had only done 2 Race for Lifes before that and began to doubt that I would make it round a 10k, but I did and so will you!!
Lots of Good Luck for 30 September and with your fundraising.

I haven't raced since i was a kid at school and i will be running my first 10k event as part of my training for Thames Meander in Feb 08.
Really looking forward to it. Just train first then enjoy the event is the wise words i was given a while back.
I'm sure nerves are just part of the whole experience. Enjoy.
