Any plans to offer JG for charities in RoI? We have an office based in Dublin who would like to have an online sponsorship system in places for their donors.

Hi Ian, thanks for the question.

This crops up quite a bit so here's the score:

1. Euros. We don't do euro processing yet, but it's on the cards alongside $$$ too.

2. Gift Aid. I'm not an expert on it but as far as I'm aware the GA system in RoI is, well, a bit weird. We would have to redevelop the whole system to cater for their requirements and also strike up an agreement with the Irish equivalent of HMRC.

It's also a question of demand, when we've had enough Irish charities and fundraisers hammering us then we'll certainly look at sorting it out!

Hope this helps,

Si.

Euro, foreign currency donations

Hi,

Being blunt, its been a year since i saw euro's mentioned. And the site does not except euro's still. So I don't think Euro's are on the cards or ever were.

You have also missed the point about currency. Its not charities hammering at your door, its donations that count. People Donating money, just giving, that what counts. I know 7 people (not counting companies donating as we deal with them direct), who have asked why no Euro's to me. Its a field of dreams situation, they come when you build. That has always been the point about rasing money, they don't donate until you ask. If they find it hard to donate they do not donate.
Please implement Euro donations, Dollars would be great too.

As for gift aid, Most EU states have a version of gift aid, and due to their taxes, more generous. And from what I can tell, the gift aid is a similar tax back break(Netherlands/Ireland). So a rewrite of code indicates poorly written code. I'd skip the gift aid for them, and just roll out accepting foreign currency. This is a big world, thats become local for many.
apologies for the bluntness, but I was offended by your reason/wording for no euro's and time lag.

alex

Hi, this is such a shame. I am based in the Republic so most of my donaters will be euro earners.. isn't there something that can be done?
