Missing person, come back Jane!

Has anyone heard from Jane, she hasn't been on since mentioning her son having a blood clot. She also said about sending creams but haven't heard anything from her.
Jane if you're reading these posts, let us know that you're ok please.

Hi all...

Thanks Elaine for coming over and coming out for a ride... was really good. Must admit to feeling pretty tired out by the end, so really need a lot more practise! Shame you couldn't join us too Sarah.  Next time  perhaps? We'll try to go out again next week.

Still no joy with the parish council.. left a phone message as no one was answering phones but nothing, so going to have to go down there next week and face them head on. At least once I have a venue that people will go to I can get planning. I emailed A4C and asked about extending the deadline for handing in the rest of the funds, and they said ...
"we will try and be as flexible as we can with regards the deadline. We would however have to have a certain amount in though to physically book you on, as the charity doesn’t have a slush fund as it were to pay the tour costs for participants up front"

Sarah, have you tried giving Jane a call. Would do it myself but wouldnt want to bother her if others have tried to make contact ps. hope the decorating is going to plan
Well today has been a great training day with Julz. The big black clouds stayed just out of reach and we kept out of the way of the lightening. I have however got concerns about the prevailing head winds that we might encounter in Cuba along the coast. It was so strong today that we were riding a maximum of 6mph on the flat. And boy can I feel it now.
We managed to stay off the lovely cakes in the tea shop we stopped at and Julz attracted a couple who showed interest in the Cuba challenge after reading her specially printed T shirt. A brilliant way to promote yourself. They now have her justgiving site to click onto.
So pat on the back Julz.

It's ok, Donna got hold of Jane, she's been a tad busy and hopefully she will be back on jg and let us know all about it.
I'm glad your training went well, I wouldn't have been able to join you in the end as I can't move my neck at the moment. Well done for staying off the cakes, just stick to flapjacks, they're very good for cyclists apparently. It's a very good idea with the t-shirt.

Take care

Hi all,

Jane gave me her number a while ago, so texted, good news her son came out of hosp today. But I do think it has been a bumpy ride for them all, she was pleased that I contacted her and hopes to be back on form soon.

I know what you mean about head winds Elaine, when Sarah and I went out with Clare the wind reduced our speed from 10 to 7mph, it was really hard work!

Thats a good idea with the t-shirt Julz, you'll have to wear it on IOW, would love to see what you've come up with. Hope the couple make a donation you never know.

I've just come back from a lovely spinning class, can tell I haven't been for a while, my head is starting to pound, couple of pills should sort that out though...

Anyone got anything on this weekend, the fund raising seems to be hotting up. Oh good luck with the parish council Julz, any idea what you want to do yet?

Angie, have you been out on the bike yet? come on how many miles?

Hi girls
Thought this would amuse you-hubby had to borrow car this morning as he had 2 nails in tyres so didnt want to risk taking daughter to nursery so I said ok i'll cycle again- can't say 'i dont fancy cycling today when I'm Cuba' .So I set off and within 10 mins driving rain and hail- on that top road by fields that we did Donna and Sarah- by the time I got to work 8 miles later I was completely saturated right through to my underwear!! My trainers made a great squelchy noise too.Luckily managed to sort everything out for a dry ride up that huge 2km hill home 12 hrs later- hubby v sheepish had cooked nice dinner and put bath on-so he's forgiven!! Great fun really that's 57 miles, 2 rpm(spinning) and 2 gym sess this week- think i'll go off for a rest now!!
Hope everyone's well.

You poor thing Clare, I can just imagine you getting to work, its easier once you've been somewhere, kind of conjours up images......... You are amazing doing all that distance as well as the classes. There'll be no stopping you in Cuba.

Anyhow have news of my own, was out last night (only setting a scene here) and had a local missed call on my phone, had to ring back as thought it might be some sort of mother in law emergency!!!! It turned out to be a lady who lives in Rugby, I know! Rugby! who's doing the second ride, I'll let her know about chatting to all you lovely ladies, especially you ladies on the other Cuba forum. Some one else to train with. Hooray.

Its a lovely morning off to put my trousers on and go for a little ride round, practising for the 60MILES tomorrow in the flipping forecasted rain..

Hi girls,
Tonight a lady arrived at my door and asked was I in. My hubby took her into the sitting room and I recognised her as the mother of a 14 year old boy who tragically hung himself just before xmas after a silly family row. He was the youngest of 6 children. I was called and arrived in my ambulance to sheer devastation and I worked for as long as humanly possible and more but I could not do anything for him.
She explained the he had had a wee bank account and the family decided that if he had been here he would have wanted me to have the money . What do you say?
So tonight when you sit down at work, or in your sitting room or whatever please think of a beautiful wee boy called Fraser who died so tragically and his memory will go on. I am so shocked, weepy and humbled and so very greatful . His wee bank account gave to me £250.00
Hope you and yours all stay safe happy and healthy.
I have shed a few more tears for Fraser this evening.

Oh wow Aly, how touching is that.. You have to admire the mother for such strength of character to do such a selfless thing despite her grief. I felt a lump in my throat as I read your post. It must make you feel so proud of the job you do. It must be so hard when things beyond your control happen.
Total respect to you xxx

Aly,

I don't know what to say. I am sat here crying, I feel so so sad for Frasers family and can't believe how brave and strong they are. You do a wonderful job, Aly. I'm a nurse and was a midwife, I've been through a lot in my career but I honestly don't think I could do what you do.

Fraser will always be remembered in his family and friends hearts and memories and thanks to you, he has touched our hearts aswell. Thank you for sharing your story, I will now go and kiss my three boys whilst they are sleeping and be very, very thankful.

Nicky x

Oh Aly
I am sat here with tears running down my face, god bless Fraser and night night. All of us who have had teenage children know how things can get out of hand, thank god my girls are now in their tweentys, not that the worry ever stops. I think you do a wonderful job, all you's girls nursing and caring, for other folk. Me and my sister looked after our mum for 3 years after she had a devasting stroke and also got dementia, and that was so hard, I dont think I could do it full time, although through that horrenduos time, there were happy and funny situations, that I still smile to myself about even today.
And in time without sadness Frasers family will be able to remember the wonderful boy he was.

Hi all,

I've missed alot been out all weekend, Aly how sad and how touching all at the same time, I couldn't live with the human tradgedy that touches you nurses and paramedics, having close freinds who are nurses you hear stories. One childhood friend cared for anothers parent on her death bed, how do you reconcile yourself with that.

Mavis, her husband and I completed the 60 miles Forest of Arden charity bike ride, haven't looked at the mileometer thing yet. was so tired last night, hubby fed me and went off to bed at 8pm....... was so tired.

The sun stayed out till about 3.30pm then we got caught in the most awful thunder shower, soaked, that was when we lost speed and OOMPH, which would have been after about 50 miles.

But, certificates were waiting at the end of a very long day, along with a lovely lady who massaged our legs. When Mavis posts she may be using another sign in ' Cleatless of Warwick' but thats her story and don't want to ruin it for her! Mine should be 'I hate hills' They sound a bit like red indian names which will be good in a teepee.

How's everything getting along with your big event Nicky? getting any more calls?

Angie, are you cycling/have you cycled to work today? how many miles?

Donna

Hi Girls

Donna you r making me nervous about sun i think i am going to be left behind. The longest estimated ride i have done at the mo is about 25 miles what chance have i got doing the IOW!!!!!My problem is being on my own so hopfully with fellow cyclists i will do better.

I have been chatting to some girls at work whoc cycle occasional and mentioned that i have a little problem and was picking their brains. Although i have padded shorts and bought a new saddle which is ment to be female friendly with a ventilation hole and memory foam etc i still get sore front bits any one got any ideas what i am doing wrong. The only thing we have come up with at the moment is that i may be sitting on saddle in the wrong position and leaning forward too much - any tips would be greatfully received as all help for sunday is needed.

Amanda
