Hi everyone.  I'm not actually doing the Cycle India but am doing Cycle Cuba for heart charities in April with a friend- a bit scary as it is so close.   We've only been managing to get out on our bikes once a week but that WILL change in January - really pleased though as the ride we do quite regularly has a couple of steep hills and I managed to do both of them without stopping this week - first time!!  I thought I'd tell you about our fundraising we did on 8 December - it was a race night at our local school.  A man comes along with a dvd and you get all your friends in to bet on the horse races and eat fish and chips and raise money!!  With having to pay £100 for the hall, £265 for the man and dvd (although I do know of someone for £200 but he couldn't do the date), drinks and fish and chips - we raised £1203!!!!  It took a lot of hard work.  We bought and served our own drinks, did decorations, sold tickets, collected the money in, set up the hall, got a book signed by Little Britain stars (that raised (£90), ordered and collected the fish and chips.  But everyone I have seen since said they had a brilliant time - not just a good time but brilliant time!!!  they all really really enjoyed it, so we are really chuffed.  I would certainly recommend it.

Have a great Christmas. Kimxx

Hi my name is Erica,

I've just been accepted on the Cycle India Extra event a few weeks ago! Probably not the best time to start fundraising with Christmas coming up but I've had a few sponsorships on my web page www.justgiving.com/ericadawes and I've got a few events in the pipeline. I have also had a few cash donations that I need to register. Everyone seems to of signed up months ago and I feel way behind. I've done some training, but find it difficult as I work in central london in the week and go home to Hampshire at the weekends. So I do mainly static training and spinning (whoever created spinning is evil!!!) during the week then try and get out on my bike a the weekend. Have a really good friend who is with me all the way with the training and fundraising, he just gutted he can't come with us!! He did the Playtex Moonwalk marathon with me in May this year and thought it was great that he got to ogle 15,000 pairs of boobs in the pretence of looking at their decorated bras!

Anyway enough from me, hope everyones training is going well and has a great christmas! I think you are all fab and so supportive of one another. Speak to you all again soon. TTFN

Erica

Has anyone got a training programme to share, eveything i look at seems to be for experienced /fit cyclists, i need something for beginners. If anyone knows of any web sites etc, can you please let me know.
If the weather was a little better i'd probably get out more, i need a little bit of motivation i think!!!!

Hi there

Came across something on cancer research website when I did a search on cycle India through google.  Not sure of the link but you could try there.

I am doing the extra trip 20 - 30 October and starting to train but need to get seriously fit first!

Good Luck to all taking part.

Kristine

If you put in "cancer research cycle india" it will bring up details of their bike ride in India, then click on the link for training....it gives you a 16/24 week suggested training plan. Hope everyone had a good Christmas - looking forward to seeing you all sometime soon, Sarah

Just had the info about the change in dates for the bike ride. Fortunately I am ok with the change, is everyone else the same? Will give us longer to train I suppose!

changing from 11-21 october to 22 november- 2 december, received my info today, need to change my annual leave but other than that shouldn't affect me. What about everyone else? Hope all those that signed upcan still go. November/december is supposed to be a little cooler than october so it will be better for us i suppose.

Hi everyone heres hoping everyone had a great christmas and new year. I'm a lecturer at a college and i'm struggling with the new dates, however I'm hoping my head of department has a kind heart and lets me change my leave as its mid term. I'm glad to see that i'm not the only one that is struggling with training and motivation, I was glad to see the list of names that I received with the new paper work but it didn't say anything about us meeting up for a weekend anytime soon. Good luck to everyone and I'm keeping my fingers crossed my dates are ok!
