Hi everyone,
Just signed up for this trek, which in in aid of SCOPE (supporting people with cerebral palsy) and have never done anything like this before!
Any tips on fundraising would be gratefully appreciated. Have already raised about £450. Does anyone have any good ideas about raising the profile of your fundraising page (bar e-mailing all familiy and friends).
Would love to hear from anyone else who has signed up for this trek.

Not doing that trek, just got back from a Macmillan Trek in Peru to Machu Picchu and it was fabulous. So I am sure you will have a fantastic time.
My main fudraising was done at 2 large music events, where I had bands playing all day. They all played for free and I charged on the door. Lot of organisation involved in it though! Next best one was a curry night. Talk to yoru local restraunt and see if they do a charity menu. Mine charge me £10 per head and suggest I charge £20 per head but I went for £15 and still raised a nice amount.
Held a couple of charity cricket matches and charged everyone to play.
There are loads of things you can do, look at your strengths and interests and use that. I also like photography so I took a lot of pictures on the trek, everyone was asking me for copies, so I decided that I would charge them but all the profit would go back to Macmillan, so that will hopefully help me raise even more :)
One of the girls on the trek volunteers on the festinog? railway in wales and she made a callendar girls type callendar of the girls on the railway and raised something like £12,000 from that. She has asked me to do the photography on the next one. So don't panic, there is loads you can do, but you have to put the effort in. But be prepared for some muppets to turn around and say that they are paying for you to go on holiday. If only they knew the amount of effort that you are putting into this!!
Good luck, and just get in touch if you ever just want someone to chat to that knows about what your doing.
My fundraising website is www.quid-durham.com (needs updating lol)
Al.

Hi Al,
Thanks for your great ideas. i might try out the indian night. I am finding it hard to fit fundraising around shift work, children and training - but will struggle on!!
It was nice to hear from someone, even if you are not going on this trip. Well done on completing your challenge.
Sharon.

Something I forgot to mention with regards the curry night.
The place I used told me that I should have spoken to the local paper and got them to run a piece about the night, say it was for Macmillan (scope for you) and give details of the event, he said that others have done that in the past and people will come just to support the charity. Def worth a shot.
Good luck with fitting everything in. If any offers of help come your way, take thier hands off, its a lot of hard work, but well worth it :)
