Hey Julz, your fund raising is going really well.
Anyone heard from Sarah, she hasn't let us know how her interview went yet.

Thanks Donna.. I am so happy I have gone past the first £1000 barrier now. I wrote to Curahealth who do physiotherapy etc at the local gym and they sponsored me £50 plus sending me a voucher for me to have a massage once we get back form this ride, which will be well needed then.. hehe .. The local paper will do a piece on it too which I will remind them of later on.
Picked up my bike finally yesterday as I was away at my parents last week helping them get organised for moving next week. Also didn't have the money til now to pay for my daughters bike which needed doing too. Should have out her one in as mine for the free service after all as it needed more. Oh well it's done now and I got the free hat, gloves, and gel seat cover. Didn't bother with a water bottle as I want the camelbak.
Which Isotonic stuff did you guys take when you did India, Angie & Donna? Looking at the sachets of gel rather than the powder incase it all clogs up in the humidity. What do you suggest?
Hi to you all... how's the planning going?

I am still here - been having a few computer problems and for some reason my work computer wont let me log on to this site!
Did my interview, brilliant photo - big spread in the local newspaper and....NOTHING! Oh well, a local magazine which goes out to loads of families has done an interview as well and this goes out next month. I was happer with them anyway as they concentrated on why I am doing this and the story of my sister, rather than just theb fact that I am on the TV (occasionally - look out on BBC breakfast on Thursday morning - I will be doing the regional weather!)
I am VERY worried about fundraising. E-mailing everyone I know has not got me very far, so I need to start organising fund raisers. Cant quite see how I am going to get to £1000 like you Julz - let alone £3000!
Training going better - doing something (cycle, run, gym) every other day. I am sue to go out on the bike today...but it is sooooo cold and miserable! I will later I promise!
Anyway...speak soon

Hi Sarah,
Dont be despondent about the fundraising, I think its still too early for people to sponsor, certainly with me the people that I have approached have basically said come back next year!!Just concentrate on getting some fundraisers on the go, there are lots of little things you could do, as well as big ones, theres a thred on the forums with fundraising ideas, and grab friends etc next year for sponsorship!!
Just to say last year I had £1,000 to raise with just a few days to do it in, I did a big indian curry night and raised loads!! My friends were really generous then as its was only weeks before I went, mind you im not saying wait till the last minute, it was a nightmare. This time I have set myself monthly targets to achieve to try and stick on track.
It is possible and YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!
Speak soon
Angie

Hi all, it's me again....
Just thought that I would let you know that I got my registration pack yesterday, so I'm in.....I will be doing the 13th September ride, what is everyone else doing?
I feel a mixture of excitement, nervousness and a bit of worry about the fundraising, but I am so glad that I've got in.
Now I have got the incentive to lose weight, (I need to lose about three stone)
I'm looking forward to knowing you all better.
Sue

Yes I did mean November........I was having a day of getting my words mixed up yesterday, it was quite embarrassing in the end..oh well, as long as the dementia doesn't set in until after the ride..
I'm going to start properly training/dieting after the bank holiday week, which is probably about the same time as you.
Just off to make tea, I've got my daughter down for her 21st this weekend,
have a good one

Nice to hear from you Sue, glad you decided to bite the bullet and go for it.
I've been speaking to Angie. How do you all fancy a training week end, spring time next year? I've got youth hostel membership, so we could book into one some where between all of us.
Sarah, missed your tele appearance, I get central news. Have a good time at your mums.
Not long till school now Julz good job you got your bike back, Oh and I didn't use half the isotonic powder that I took, so would probably go for the individual packets next time, and don't put them in your camel, they clog it up!
Speak to you soon.
Love Donna

Hi everyone,
I'm another Sarah doing the Cuba 2008 on the 13th, and I have raised absolutely nothing so far. I've had quite a few idea's but most people seem to think it's to early to fundraise. I tried to get in-touch with Winchester City Council as I want to do a large raffle but they don't seem to know what they're doing and haven't got back to me.
I live in the Winchester area if anyone would like to meet up for idea's or some training. I had a go at Spinning the other evening, I thought I'd had it, it was soooo hard. Plus i'm old enough to be everyone else's mum. I may do some other exercise in the gym before I go back to Spinning.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Sarah M

Hi Sarah
I've done nothing so far, and like you have plenty of ideas (and my freinds are keen to help) but i'm sure it will work out ok.
I've tried spinning in the past, and boy it's tough stuff! No one seemed to do the classes for a while round here, so I never really got into it. Like you, I need to build my fitness a bit more before giving it a try.
I think the idea of meeting up for training etcwould be great, count me in _ I live in Dorset by the way.

Thank you very much for my two very friendly welcomes. I feel really excited now. Just bought a cycle rack for the car this morning, so off down to Brockenhurst on Monday with my daughter to have a 20mile ish ride.
I'm a 44yr also young married mum with 2 daughters aged 18 & 17yrs. My 18yr old is off to University next month and my other daughter will be off next year. No kids end of next year, so what does one do? cycle 370km. It's either that or stay at home and talk to my other half, not sure what we will talk about when the kids have gone.
Not sure i like being called Sarah M. Sez maybe easier so as not to get confused with other Sarah
Take care
Sez x
