Hi Sarah, I am really looking forward to it too. We are going out for the day on the bikes tomorrow to see how I fare! Going to try out the cheap camelbak that I bought at LIDL. I am sure we will be fine. It will just be good to meet up and see how everyone is getting on. Susanne is organising the schedule I think, but as far as I can remember we are meeting early Saturday 14th at the YH at Ilam. Not sure if we are pub lunching or taking sandwiches though - I am happy to do either. See you then, Sarah

How does this sound, meet at Ilam Youth Hostel at 9.30am, hopefully we can start to ride about 10-10.30, I suggest we ride to Thorpe (there is a really steep up bit, we will need to walk it, but this will give us a chance to chat!!) Once at thorpe we can get on the Tissington Trail to Hartington, where we can stop for a drink and lunch, I think if we all bring a packed lunch it would be a good idea, then we can stop to have it wherever we like, but there is plenty of tea shops and a pub in Hartington. Then we can ride to Hulme end to get on the manifold way, which is level and then ride back to Ilam this should take about  4-5 hours cycling, which should get us back at Illam for 5 ish at the latest. I think we need to tell the YH if we want an evening meal which I am assuming we do.

The ride is about 26 miles, and on the whole is quite easy to moderate, we have plenty of time to do it in, and am sure we will all be fine with it.

very happy to have any other suggestions/ideas

Susanne

Hi everyone this is fine with me. Good idea to walk the steep bit! I bought one of those Lidl thingies as well but it doesn't feel a bit comfortable. I think I am better off with my bottle. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Hi you all!  Looking forward to Saturday - meeting at 9.30 is fine.  I just looked up weather forecast and it is promising 20 degrees!  So I guess we will all need lots of suntan lotion not to mention water.  I think we must all have put up the share prices in Lidl - but I am having difficulty in getting my water thingie to work - is there a trick to getting the water from the sack into your mouth??

If you don't hear from me between now and then, don't worry.  I am off to London tomorrow to pick up my daughter and crew from Hong Kong and may be engrossed in them for a couple of days.  I'll email my phone number to Sarahe - just in case I need to now anything between now and then.  See you Saturday!!

9.30am is fine with me. I will email hostel to say we want evening meal if you like and find out what time it is served.
I have a lidl camelback. Managed ok with it at the weekend, like you say, it tastes a bit funny til the plastic taste wears off. Didn't flow brilliantly, you need to give the end a tug and then have a good suck!!! Need more practise!!!! Forecast warm and sunny, so don't forget the suncream. Will email you all my mobile number. Although the reception up there is a bit hit and miss. The car park at the hostel is £4.
Really looking forward to meeting you all. Sarah

I think we will all want the meal, so go ahead and arrange it Sarah. Sounds like everyone is happy, no word from Jane yet, you ok Jane? I know Lisa is ok with it, we did a 27 mile ride yesterday, and chatted about the weekend to come. So excited to be meeting everyone. We both have Lidl camelbaks too, we will look like a team!!

Hi everyone

sorry I've not been on, started a new job last week and it's been manic.

Yes, I'm happy with all the arrangements, will bring a packed lunch and happy to have an evening meal at the YHA, just need to go on a route-planner to find out where I'm going.

See you all Saturday am

Jane
