Yeh! Weather is looking much better for the weekend. I'm hoping to get there for about 7pm.
Sorry you can't make it Angie, Sarah and Julz, but don't worry, we'll talk about you lots just to make it feel like you are there. Hope that's ok?

Hows the knee Sarah? Also hope the bugs have flown.
Amanda, hope your muscle pull is healing. Unfortunately, its highly likely that my sis Von is not going to make it now due to her back injury. Shes feeling very despondant. It could be quite a few weeks before shes back on the saddle. She is having her 2nd visit to the chiropractor tomorrow. She is hoping for a miracle but if her first visit is anything to go by it will be a miracle if she is still upright.
I do hope no one else suffers any mishaps. Its rather scary this getting fit lark.
Ok, weather here absolutely rubbish this afternoon. Thinking of starting on the Ark.
Glad you say the weather is improving Sarah, it will make the camping out more inviting.
I shall go to Burley in the afternoon. I have a tent to erect or Ark to build depending on weather.
Let me know if anyone plans to get there earlier, I shall have my phone on but will be here and there. If anyone comes earlier I will make sure I am there.
Sarah, will you have time to eat with us at the pub on the Sat evening. I have booked from 7.30pm. (no need to dress up)
Safe journey everyone and see you all tomorrow.
X Elaine

Hi Elaine,
The weather all weekend is now looking good. My cold will be gone by tomorrow I've decided. And my knee will be fine, I have lots of pain killers.
Sorry to hear about Von, she must be so frustrated, send her our best wishes when you see her and hopefully she'll get better soon.
I should be able to eat with you Sat evening. Really looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Sorry you couldn't join us Angie. It was a great day, especially the weather. We did about 53 very eventful miles, but I'll let Sue tell you all about that. Sleeping in a teepee was excellent, felt like I was about 14yrs old. Shame I had to come home but I'm doing the Race for Life tomorrow in rememberance of a friend/colleague who recently died of cancer. Just had a lovely bath to help the aching muscles.

Take care
Sarah

A very big thank you especially to Elaine and everyone for making the weekend great. I think I have picked up some words of wisdom and I'm going to keep up the training! The big job tomorrow is to clean my bike and then test it out on the lanes around here. off for a hot bath now!

Thanks
Doreen

Hot bath and early night me thinks Doreen. Thank you to you too and all you lovely gang for your company. Hope your drive home was not too tiring. A special note to Donna and Mavis - was the chocolate cake good..... sorry Amanda but it disappeared up the motorway quicker than a shooting star. Also, thanks to Jane for the yummy cake which I hope to taste for myself one day in the future. Great weekend...sleep well. X Elaine

Thank you, thank you, thank you to one and all.

Especially Elaine for her wonderful organisation skills, and beautiful food, you must have worked really hard, its was very much appreciated.

To Doreen for helping Elaine, and looking after us all.

To Donna and everyone for their encouragement, and also for the dreaded wheel, puncture, fiasco, I would never have coped, seeing as I didn't even have a repair kit, a very worthwhile lesson learned.  But also to everyone for their encouragement, I was ready to give in Saturday night, and was trying to fathom out how to give people their money back, but not anymore, I can do this with the help of my fellow cyclists, and increasing my training.

It was so wonderful to meet you all, thanks once again, sorry if I moaned too much, and thanks once again.

Luv Sue xxxx Embarrassed [:$]

What a fabulous weekend - Elaine, just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for your hospitality and organising such a fantastic weekend - you and Doreen are stars.

Sorry about the chocolate cake - honestly it wasn't a deliberate ploy to zoom off with it.  We did have a giggle though, when we discovered that everyone had forgotten.   Amanda, the cake was deliciousStick out tongue [:P].

Donna, thank you for the lift - I felt I had the easy part - just sitting and relaxing while you did all the driving.

Jane, I'm sorry I'm not going to be able to make the weekend of the 13th June - just realised Keith has his operation on 12th June, so would be a bit evil of me to abondon husband and child that weekend.  Perhaps I can join at another time as I really do need the hill training.  I'll also contact  Penny and the team about us sharing.

Thanks to all the other ladies for contributing to a great weekend - I really had fun and feel more positive about Cuba now, having spent some time with you all.

Keep cycling and happy fundraising.

Love Mavis

PS  I have two spare rooms if anyone wants to stay for the August 2 and  September 13 & 14 training events.   I'm based in Warwick, so wouldn't have far to travel for the cycle start.

Hi All,

Like everyone else, I want to say a HUGE thanks to Elaine and Doreen for organising the weekend - especially to Elaine for the lift!! Thanks to everyone on Sunday who contributed tyre levers, glue, spit, water and just general laughter!! It made the puncture just that much special!! :o) Also, thanks to the wee spider that hitched a lift from the New Forest to Bmth in my back-pack and scared the life out of me - that just rounded off the day nicely!!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am COVERED in mozzie bites!! - 20 at the last count and some in weird places!! I've got matching ones at the corner of each jaw so it looks like mumps and a lovely little one at the top of my bottom where my shorts/jeans obviously didn't meet my t-shirt!! Not to mention the wonderful stripiness of my legs and arms!!

It was wonderful to meet everyone and I feel a lot more positive about doing this challenge knowing that we'll all be seeing this one through.

Happy training all!!
xx

Hi all,

Yes thanks Elaine and Doreen, for organising, what a fab weekend. Have to say I only have 1 mosi bite so far thats come to light, but it has to be the biggest one I've ever had!

It was great to catch up with some and meet others, sounds like the race for life went well, hows your knee holding up Sarah and you, Elaine how's your knee today?

Despite what everyone must think...... No the cake didn't come home on purpose, but yes its really nice, the whole family (apart from the son in S...alouf) loved it, thanks Amanda.

Janey, I can make the Sunday not the Saturday as its Mums b'day on Sat 14th. So let me know what time. Wonder if Sarah B could make this one. How far from Janey are you Sarah?

Did anyone post total mileage I maybe repeating, but over 2 days 70 MILES. Janey I will be ordering cream from you, can I have some for when I visit please? just let me know how much and do you want me to give you cash or donate on your site so that you get the gift aid on it? do you need little jam jars as they throw them away at work.

I'm off to search the web for those altura gloves now.

Donna
