Hi everyone,
I was just curious what everyone else had expierienced with regards to the medical form. I was told by my GP that I MUST have a full medical at a cost of £110 for them to sign that form, I went back to Macmillan and they said they had never heard of anyone having to do that, so I went back tot he GP again with that and they are still insisting that I have one. The problem I have found is the statement on the back of the letter which say, I certify that this person is fit both physically and mentally to take part in this event. But Macmillan came back to me and said the signature was just to say what I had said on the form was correct?
Anyway, I would just like to know what you have all expierienced so far.
Thanks,
Alan.

Hi hope every one is well?
I have had my form signed last week and did not have to have any medical at all, I did mention it to the doctor and he said that not required as he is just saying what I have said is correct.
Hope this helps.

Hi folks,
I'm signed up for the Machu Picchu trek for Concern Worldwide in October/November this year, so I thought I'd drop you a quick line to say hi!
Bravo Ledge on reaching your target already - you put me to shame!
I too have set up a blog (http://5ft-trek.blogspot.com ) and am selling PR to businesses I deal with in return for their sponsorship - need to start chasing them good and proper tho! I'm currently working through the pain barrier with the blisters I'm 'growing' during hikes through the Pentlands in Scotland. Owch.
Anyway... SO excited about the trek, but wish I had as long as you guys to fundraise! ;)
cheers,
Sarah

Got my medical form back from my Doctor. I didn't have to pay either. Sounds like your Doctor needs an injection if he charges! Why not ask Macmillan to write to him asking him to reconsider as it is for charity? All the best, Ledge

It might depend on how many things you have had to put on the form?
But my form did state that any fees that the doctor requests have to be paid by me. The problem is with the form, because it states that the doc has to declare you physically and mentaly fit.
I sailed through the medical thankfully, so I am still on course to go :)
Just got to get on with the fund raising.

Hi Guys,
My name is Maggie and i will be joining you on this adventure!!
I have started my fundrasing and it is going suprisingly well at the moment, i have had some printer cartridge donations from work that we no longer use and sold these on ebay for the tidy sum of £220, i have also recently done a car boot sale where i got another £100, along with sponsorship off colleagues and family i have now passed the first £1000 of the £3000.....I have got more car boot sales planned and some other collection events, so hopefully it won't be long before i reach the minimum.
I would like to get out hiking with some of you if you are heading off anywhere please do get intouch with me.
I am walking to and from my train station every day now which is a good 8 miles a day, although i know this is not enough and i need to do so much more.
Hope you are all well, and i look forward to meeting you all soon.
Maggie
