Great you will be staying over Sally, there is a good pub nearby and we can go there for a meal in the evening, yes it is self catering so may be can share what we bring? someone the cereal, someone the milk, coffee, tea bags, juice...etc. can't think of anything else. the room has an ensuite I think, although I am not sure, but its a very small hostel and even if the bathroom is shared it will be fine. You won't need bedding, just a towel and your PJ's.

Can't we tempt you to stay over too Catherine, its a long way home to Wales and back??

Are we to bring a packed lunch for Saturday?

Unfortunately Catherine can't come - she had a spill on her bike a couple of weeks ago when a dog jumped up at her and has broken(?) her wrist, has stiches in her leg and numerous cuts and bruises.  She was supposed to be staying with me which is why I hadn't said before that I would stay over.  I know she was really looking forward to it but I know we all wish her well really soon.  It will be quite exciting - I haven't slept in a dorm since I was at boarding school back in the mists of time.  I will bring the cereal and juice - Cherrios alright with everyone - whole grain and all that - and some fruit.

Pack lunch for Saturday?  I hadn't really thought about it.  My problem is that I can't manage a water bottle so have to have a camel and whilst it has a very tiny compartment for other bits, I can't carry a sandwich box or anything like that.  There is a very nice pub in Rockingham - Sondes Arms.  I will try and phone today to check they do sandwiches/cobs etc.  If not there is a village shop and it might be a case of make it up as you go along - not literally of course, I don't think even John could manage to make sandwiches whilst cycling!  I'll put a note on when I have spoken with them

The weather forecast for the week-end looks good - keep your fingers crossed

Sally

Sorry its me again - just to confirm I have spoken to Sondes Arms and they do a full range of main courses, sandwiches, baugettes omlettes etc so I think we should be able to suit everyone - whether they want to bring packed lunches or get something whilst we are out.

Hi Sally

That sounds good to me!

I will bring the milk and tea bags for breakfast on Sunday

Have you thought about sharing the transport with Jane as I am sure you are not too far from each other and that way you share the cost of petrol and have company?

See you Saturday

Hi everyone

It will be lovely to see you all again Judith, Jane & Suzanne and meet everyone else. I wish Jane and I could stay but Jane is working Sunday and I have visitors. The weather is looking good and lunch at the pub rather than a warm squashed butty sounds great!

Sally ........Jane has asked me to ask if there are many hills on the route? I promised that I will but have told her that even if there are I wll fib so that she doesn't panic!

Thank for that Suzanne - its been a real pleasure but I am nervous in case anything goes wrong!

Lesley - you can tell Jane there are a couple of hill on Saturday, but nothing to be scared of - as the organiser of this little outling I wouldn't want the embarrssment of not being able to get up the hills on the route I had chosen - now would I?  If anyone is desparate for a really good hill - they can always ride up the hill to Rockingham Castle whilst the rest of us have lunch - that will really separate the girls from the cowards and just for the record I most definately won't be doing it!!

If there is anyone I haven't emailed with my mobile number - let me know

The weather doesn't look that bad and its still got time to change - Sunday looks the best but Saturday it only supposed to rain early on so perhaps it will be stopped by the time we start - yes I know I sound like a cup half full as opposed to half empty type of person, but I have to think that the weather gods will give us a bit of a break.  And Sarah would have her evening spoilt, although as its Saturday evening I am sure it will be dry by then.

Sally/Jane/Judith, Just a quick thought, my experience of Youth Hostels is they only put one pillow on the beds, so if you like more than one pillow, it will be a good idea to take one of your own. Really looking forward to the weekend... whatever the weather it will be great I am sure XX

Hi Julie,

I am sure you will have a great week-end too - I just hope yours is going to be drier than I think ours is going to be!  I have decided that it is not healthy to check the weather forecast every 30 minutes, because it seems to be getting worse, so maybe if I stop looking the sun will shine - how that for female logic, but I am sure anyone who reads this will understand it!  Good luck to Jackie for the new job

Hi Sally and everyone else,

looking forward to tomorrow.  Only thing is I am not convinced I have a suitable waterproof. Did someone say there was a cycle shop nearby?

Morning Everyone,

I hope you all got home safely.  I just wanted to say "Thank You" to everyone who came for a really great week-end - the camerarderie, encouragement and fun was amazing and will spur me on to do better next time.  A special thank you to Suzanne for organising the Youth Hostel and for all her advise help and encouragement to us novices.  I hope everyone has now fully dried out.  I wonder if the man a the Noel will ever recover from all those soggy lady cyclists in the snug - dripping all over the place!

I was so tired when I got home - I unpacked the car, had a bath, made something to eat and went to bed at 8.00 p.m. - it was still daylight!"

Here's to the next one

Love Sally
