I think we have the makings of a peak district training ride (see Cycle India 2007 thread) April seems a favourite, how about April14th Sat or 15th Sun Can we confirm those interested Sarah E; SarahT; Jb5; Steph Bell; Loz; and me Susanne(Sue) anyone else??
Does this look ok for a good circular route? http://www.peakdistrictonline.co.uk/content.php?categoryId=1979 we could meet at the Parsley Hay car park.

Hi everyone
I live near Stratford on Avon but would be interested in joining up with you all on this ride. It would be worth the drive to have the company and it would be great to meet up with a few people in advance. The forum gives me so much encouragement.

Sorry I started all this off, then disappeared! I have come down with the most awful viral infection, completely laid me low for a week! Still feel pretty awful have only made it downstairs today, aprt from visiting the doctors twice, I have no cold or sore throat but the most awful headache & temperature fluctuations, at the moment I don't feel I could stand for 26minutes let alone ride for 26 miles! BUT before I took to my bed I did send for some info on the Peak district and it has loads of details on accommodation, it arrived during the week and I will take a look at it and the map I am happy to stay over, your'e right Sarah though we need numbers can we confirm who we have? By my reckoning we have yesses from
Sarah E
Stef
Loz
Anncie
what about SarahT and Jb5 still interested??
That's great, I think there are 6 of us by my reckoning at the mo. (SarahE, Sarah T, Loz, Stef, Ann and me) I have been having a look at accomodation and I am assuming that eveyone wants to make the weekend as resonable as possible. What about staying in a youth hostel there is one at Youlgreave which is very close to the Parsley Hay start of the cycle ride and it looks ok, not one of the YHA most luxurious venues but seems adequate, Youlgreave has pubs etc. for a good meal and we may need to share a big room for all of us but I would be ok with that, we need to get to know each other anyway! You don't have to be a member to book a room but it is £3 more each a night if you are not. making it £17 a night, it has storage for bikes and will provide food if we want it, there is aslo a self catering kitchen. What do people think? they do seem to have ate least 8 vacancies the night of the 14th April. But I think we will need to book pretty quick as it's the Easter hols and the info says its popular. I am happy to book. Would people prefer a bit more luxury/privacy etc.I really don't mind Here is the link anyway!.

Have been up to Parsley Hey this afternoon. Its about an hour from me.....looks OK, from what I could see through the snow! I had written down names of B & B's on the way home, and was thinking that Ashbourne would have been a good place to stop over. Its about 20 minutes from Parsely Hey, with pubs etc.
As far as the route is concerned it would definately be up hill on the ride back to Parsley Hey.....difficulty rating 3 out of 5 apparantly...
Out of the two youth hostels, perhaps the one at Ilam might be better, as it has a restaurant etc.Nice grounds, its a National Trust property. Same price as the one at Youlgreave. Lots more accommodation (some ensuite), which would be useful if others decide to join us.
