Omg,

How quick has that gone nearly a year ago since Cuba, only a year to go to China.

Sarah I have to say that the saddle looks interesting!

Hope everyone's doing ok. Wishing Linds well with her Chinese night tonight.

Speak soon

Hi all

Just to let you know that my Chinese meal went really well, and I raised £400.

Thank you all for your kind words of support, meant a lot as I was a bit nervous, having never done anything like that before.  I felt I had to say a few words about the charity and obviously to thank people, and that was the worst bit, but, when it came down to it it was'nt that bad!!  Think I might hire myself out as an after dinner speaker lol (only joking!!)

So far this week i've raised £540!!

Love Linds

Hello everyone... ive just spent a very lazy sunday afternoon catching up on the last couple months messages on here... It great fun reading about you all. Rachel and I have panicked lots about the fundraising, but we have just hit the £1500 mark, thank goodness, we did a Jumble sale last weekend and raised £504, bingos are generally bringing in £250 and we have another 4 bingos b4 christmas and another jumble sale so hopefully we may manage to hit 3k by the end of the year... if the bike ride in somerset happens, we would love to be there.. and we live just over an hour from bath so if you need somewhere else to stay we have a couple os spare beds... but i will have to start getting fit now. LOL

Well back to work and down to earth after Jordan. Fantastic, very very hilly, very very hot Jordan and beautiful people. We went for a turkish bath, fern, Gail, myself and about another dozen ladie. They told me noone will see anything as I was A WEE bit shy about exposing this vast body. Anyway trusted Fern, went in, Got a sheet for roun d us and God did we steam. Next thing I knew my sheet was whipped away, I was lying face down on a marble slab, my legs were being bent and twisted into places they aint never been before. I could hear Fern and rest of girls laughing. After that they rub you with a loofah and show you all the dead skin they get of you, Embarrassment hit the top of the scale when they started the massage. Oh my god. Again the y massaged bits I didnt know I had!! They then slap soap all over you and indicate to you to follow them. This i did andhad freezing cold water poured all over us. I have never laughed so much in my life watching everyone else getting theres done and likewise. I have to say though it felt fantastic and when we came out and got our clothes back on the wee cup of cinammon tea was divine. In all a lifechanging excperience fro me!! but glad I spent it with such a superb crowd of ladies. I felt really strange crossing the finishing line . I think because we had cycled all day in very hot over 40 degree heat and I had cycled most of it on my own at the back I did a LOT of reflection thinking. When I crossed the line I felt I was crossing for Cuba as well and was a wee bit teary and was looking around for you all. So you all came with me in my heart and I missed you all so much. Roll on China girls. April first though. Catch you all soon. Love Aly

Oh Aly,

You just brought a tear to my eye, that was exactly how I felt crossing the line in Cuba. It was me finishing India, cos like you in Cuba, I never got over the finish line in India. I can't believe you went in a turkish bath, I've always liked the look of those on the telly on the travel programmes Jealous or what. Can't wait to see you in April. So pleased you had a fab time.

Deena, my friend and I have just been to try and give out leaflets at an Elvis night, but they only had about 24 attendee's we did more gossiping than giving!

Salawash, well done with the fund raising, are you and your daughter doing it together? Would be great if you can make the Bath training. Be lovely to meet you both.

Can't wait to come and help at the cycle event next year. It'll be amazing. Gonna see if the family want to come down with me aswell, do a bit of sightseeing over the weekend.

Sound like my lovely hubby is finishing dinner so speak later.

Aly, well done it sounds fantastic, my friend Janice did the second week so I can't wait to hear all about it from her.

Girls, this Somerset weekend, what about February or June? because we have Scotland in April. If everyone posts a quickie to say which month they would like I could then suggest a couple of weekends to see if we are all free! Or if another month suits better just say when!

I've been trying to loose some weight and I did really well, until.... it was my wedding anniversary and I drank lot's of champagne, then I went to London with the girl's and drank lot's of gin, and then I ate a lovely Sunday roast - there really is no hope for me!

Hi Deb,

There is always hope for you.....and a good laugh knowing you. You're right with Scotland being in April it probs would be best in Feb (don't moan we have to get moving because October will soon come around) if everyone else is in agreement. Sounds like you had a fab time though.

I've made a promise to myself that once the disco is finished with next week I'm going out on the bike in the evenings when get home from work instead of leaflet dropping.

Guess better start wrapping up warm and get the long fingered gloves out now!

Good luck to Mavis with the New York Marathon. Just don't stop in too many shops on the way round!

Speak later

Hi

I have been reading your posts and have had a wee giggle to myself. I have registered for the April 2011 cycle.

Donna - Tea/coffee morning

I notice that you are going to contact the participants on your dates, I will do the same for the 2011 dates then we could let each other know what kind of response we get.

I see you are coming to Scotland for a training weekend in April (I live in Glasgow), I would be interested in joining in if thats ok.

Aly, Well done. Its a pity I wasn't on the Jordan cycle then you would have had some company at the back. I have not done a cycle challenge before (in fact haven't been on a bike in years) but have done the moonwalk a few times and powerwalked a couple of marathons and we are always near the end, not to worry.

Its lovely to read all the reports. I just wished my motivation was as great as all of yours.
I miss the get up and go feeling but I fear at the moment it has got up and gone. My bike sits in the garage unlurved. Von has her new road bike sitting next to her trusted Mountain bike 'Blue' having only seen the light of day twice in 4 months.
I fear there is no hope for us. When Linds told me the gridiron had been and gone I must admit to feeling relieved.
God how I sound moany, I have also shed a little tear at Alys posting. Miss you.
In need of a big group hug...........does anyone else suffer SAD in winter? I am afraid I may be in full hibernation by February.

Hi Girls

Well done Aly, you do make me laugh I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the Sauna, I bet you had a scream.

Well done Linds, sounds like a good night was had by one and all.

In case anyone doesn't know I am going to be a Nanna in April, the baby is due 24th April.  So that puts mine and Vicky's plans of joining you at Aly's on hold, I will check if Vicky wants to go on her own, god I will miss you I bet your have a ball.

Debs personally speaking I would prefer Somerset in flaming June rather than cold and wet February, what about everyone else, and Debs dont worry about the weight life's for living.

Hi all

I'm thinking along the sames lines as Suz - June would be better weather wise, only please don't make it clash with the Solent Coast ride during cycle week, check with Elaine when that is.

I'm pretty sure the Scotland weekend is open to all, so i'm sure you'll be very welcome Debser.

I laughed out loud at your description of the goings on at the turkish bath. It was just what I needed to cheer me up. I just sorry that I cannot join you all in April. It would have been great to have come and cycled in the countryside around your home.

Linds, glad that your chinese meal went so well. Can you put me down for a chinese cycle shirt. Any idea how much they will cost?

Somerset in June sounds great to me. As Donna said as long as its not June 5th.

Good luck Mavis with the marathon. Enjoy it and then go shopping.
