Managed to get my World Cup Sweepstakes sorted out.  I did 32 Teams @ £10. a Team = £320.  Winner gets £150. and runner up gets £70. Fund gets £100. I had a couple of bottles of wine at work so  two of the teams least likely to progress will get a free bottle of wine included. Used envelopes and paper at work so even at short notice was cheap and simple to organise.  Hope your fund raising and training is going well!

Not heard anything for a little while so thought I'd let everyone know I'm selling raffle tickets - five for a quid.  Prizes include England Shirt signed by Joe Cole, Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney and others; Hungarian Shirt signed by squad who played at Old Trafford; Jamaica Shirt signed by squad who played at Old Trafford; Football Boot signed by Paul "Gazza" Gascoigne; Bolton Pennant signed by First Team; 2 tickets for Lancashire Cricket at Old Trafford.  Anyone want any tickets?  When I get some batteries for my digital camera I'll put some pictures on my Blog http://adamledger.blogspot.com/

Hi Adam, Jen, John (and Angus!), Alan, Kyle and Glenn, and 'haggishunter',

I have just picked up my fundraising pack for the Peru 2007 trip. Really looking forward to it.

I'll be setting up my justgiving page in the next week.

The £3000 seems daunting, but I am just trying to convince my work to allow me to raffle 1 of my holidays (big company, lots of offices and who doesn't want another days off !!) Also going to have a car boot sale, coffee morning etc - will have to let my imagination go a bit more though !!!

Working in Dublin at the moment, which is awkward, but I'll probably be at the Edinburgh meeting (nearest to Kilcreggan - by Helensburgh on the West Coast !)

Really good to see whos who and share some ideas for fundraising.

Bye for now

Emma

Welcome Emma,

Looks like you have got yourself a good bunch here and I am sure any of us would be more than happy to help with ideas :)

Less than 5 weeks now to my big gig in Durham.  Got the the main stage bands sorted, need a few more bands on the Acoustic stage and just need to sort out the the compilation CD I am putting together, I will be selling it for £5 and I am getting 1000 made, so if I sell them all over 4K will be profit :)  That's without the door money.  you never know lol

Ledge,

Have you decided on an extension yet?  I am interested but I have not looked into it too much just yet.

I can probably only stay an extra 3 days or so, my girlfriends birthday is June 6th and I need to be back before then.

Let me know what your plans are.

Thanks, Al.

Wow! Good to see the group's gradually growing! Hope the fundraising is going well...I'm trying to put on my next event this July but venues are being really awkward...not getting back to me for weeks! Nevermind I'll be moing down to glasgow in August so I might reschedule it and do it down there instead. Hopefully it will make more money down there anyway!

Has anyone started buying the kit yet? If anyone finds a good bargain for any of the kit on the list let us know! We could all do with saving a few pennies!

Take it easy folks

Kyle

Glasgow's much more generous you should try down here.

I got some of my kit from a local store on Ebay, link below, they gave us a good deal, knocked off postage and threw in some freebies. Let them know you got their details from me cause I told them I'd pass their details on.

Bought a Thermarest which I'm going to try out next month at the Oxegen Music Festival in Dublin!  Also bought a wide brimmed sunhat - suspect I won't need that for Dublin!!!!

Think we'll need a rest after the hike so yes I do fancy an extension.  Only organised one seems to be the Amazon and I think that is for four days.  Good Luck with your Mega Gig and put us down for one of your CDs.  Cheers.

Extension sounds like a great idea but unfortunately I'm pushing my luck with taking time off my new job as it is so I don't think I'll be able to do it. Sad [:(] I think I'll manage to get a couple of days to recover before heading back so it shouldn'tbe too bad..I'm thinking of doing other treks after this one and maybe even the Great North Run...I've really amazed myself at how much I enjoy the fundraising especially organising big fundraisers! Never thought I was that kind of person but its just so satisfying to know that every little penny we raise goes towards helping people with cancer. Hopefully some of my research will go towards making a therapy for mesenchymal tumours but there is so much more to do and so much help that's needed. I suppose its just nice to feel I'm making a difference!

Hope you're all well,

Kyle

Just got back from Oxegen Music Festival in Ireland - Thermarest was really comfy - I got the Prolite 4 and slept so well that I didn't even notice the tents been set on fire all around us, the countless fights or the fireworks and rockets been thrown about!  Sunhat came in useful - rained all day Saturday!  I need to get a decent pair of walking boots.  Any suggestions????

Hi Ledge

I have been using a pair of Brasher boots for about 10 months now- the fabric type, Goretex ,  so they are fully waterproof and breathable too. They have been the comfiest boots I have had for a long time!   Have a look at http://www.mandmdirect.com/ProductList.asp - there are some Berghaus or Karrimor boots at the moment, which I've used before - and this site quite often has some good bargains on outdoor equipment available. I got a Sprayway Pac-Lite Gore-tex jacket for under £50 (they go for £139.99!)

If you want reviews too, have a look at www.outdoorsmagic.com - they have loads of good reviews on there.

Hope this helps!

Hi Ledge,

I have been using Karimor Gortex boots and have been very good so far, although they are taking a bit of bedding in.  I used them all weekend at T in the park and they did very well, likewise we had rain a lot of the Saturday.  I picked them up in a discount store at our local discount retail park, last years style or something so they were reduced to below £40.  Just make sure you wear whatever you get as much as you can before the trek.

Gig is next weekend, so all systems go for that, if anyone wants to hear some of the music being played then you can check out the main bands on www.myspace.com/quiddurham The boys will appreciate Rebels of the Flesh, a copy of the highlights CD can also be ordered via that page if you like what you hear.

Al.

Did everyone get their 2nd Macmillan update and has anyone decided to extend their stay and do the Amazon Trip?

P.S. In case you were wondering, James is my first name, Adam is my middle name!
