Hi Karen,

Email buddies sounds like exactly what I need :) I love your blog too, I had to laugh 'cos I recognise myself in so much of your story!! I dont know my way around this forum yet - is there a private messaging thing we can use to swap email addresses??

Hi Ann,

Thank you so much for your message, that made me feel a lot easier about all this :) My friends and colleagues have all been really positive since I started telling them about Jordan (I figure the more people I tell, the more I will feel that I must do it!) although I think my family will take a bit more persuading LOL.

I am going out to get on a bike this weekend - should be an amusing experience! and as long as I dont hate every moment of it, I will officially sign up next week. I opened my payslip yesterday & found out that I have now paid off my season ticket loan and therefore dont have to pay anything for the mext 2 months - I took that as "a sign" and will use the money to (almost) cover my registration fee. The same thing will happen next year too, so that will almost cover my airport taxes :) I have asked my firm if they will consider making a donation to my fund, they are usually quite good about that kind of thing so am hopefull to get the fundraising off to a good start :)

I feel really positive about this at the moment & cant wait to get started - hope I feel the same way after the weekend when I have a sore "you know what"!!

Hi everyone, well here goes again, I have just posted my application for the Jordan ride, have asked for the 1st ride but not sure yet. After India last year, I so wanted to do Cuba, but life took over this year and did not have the time to train or fundraise, but now very excited about Jordan and cant wait. For those of you on this forum who may be doubtful, my message is, dont hesitate, go for it, it is the experence of a lifetime. I wanted to do a challenge before I was 60, and thought that would be it, and retire all smug. it's not, it's infectious. You are looked after so well, all you will have to think about is cycling, every thing else is done for you. Even after 8 months, I still cant stop talking about it and looking at the photos and DVD and would do it all again tomorrow.  I am in Dorset and wondered if anyone else was close to do some joint training, (the hills around here are wonderful!!!!). This is so exciting being back on this forum, like coming home again. Look forward to meeting up at training  weekends and keeping in touch on here. Steph, are you doing Jordan, or anyone else from India 2? Be great to here from you.

Trish

Hi Trish,
Your message was SO encouraging. I wish I was in Dorset so that I could buddy up for training! No such luck though!
We all go back to school in a week or so and then I can get moving on the fundraising and training!
Hope to hear how you're getting on via the forum.
Karen

Hi Trish and footsie - nice to see another newbie! ;) What's your real name hun?

Well, I have done it! I have signed up - I completed my form online today & had to go for the 2nd ride due to work deadlines the week before - so who else is on the 2nd ride???

If anyone wants a laugh, I have followed Karen's excellent example & started a web diary of my progress from now to Jordan! you can find it at www.ksmithcyclejordan.blogspot.com

As soon as my paperwork arrives I will also get a fundraising page set up...wouldnt want to do it now & do something wrong! Looking forward to getting some funds raised......

OK ladies, I have a question - Do I HAVE TO wait for my info pack to arrive before I can set up my justgiving page? I'm sure it wont take long for my pack to arrive but I do already have a few people asking about it & it would be great to be able to set it up straight away..... can anyone help??

I set my page up before my pack arrived - it's dead easy!
Shout if you need any help - but it's very self explanatory!

Thanks Karen. I'll give it a go & see how i get on - cant be too hard!!

2nd ride - yeah I know, it's a shame I can't do the same one as you but it's just not an option because of the dates. Practically the first thing my hubby said when I told him about it all was - "you wont be able to get the time off work". Never mind. We can still help each other get prepared & I'll be so excited for you when you head off plus we can compare notes afterwards ;-)

Hi Kags,

Which India were you on? I was on the 2nd ride. My pack arrived this morning so will be trying to rember how to set up the funding page again. It's so exciting this time as we know what to expect. The fundraising may be harder what with already doing it once and the economic climate, but what the heck, it's part of the challenge. Knowing about this page helps as well to keep in touch.

Trish
