Stick out tongue [:P] Re: informal ride 4th May Isle of Wight

Sad faces are good......... In a strangely weird way as long as they go up gently.... Really can't wait, it's not too long now. Good job there are two routes! I'm going to take Ann's favourite energy gel with lots and lots of water. Did you remember to ask your friend about coffee shops for the odd break LOL! You are the best doing faces. I'll should try that one on the market harbough run only there probably won't be enough space as the hills are too tightly packed together..... No Joking, not!

See you tomorrow Sarah, Clare and Angie.

Any idea what we are going to do about food whilst on the IOW, is it going to be jam sandwiches and flapjacks? Has anyone tried those energy drinks in their camalbaks? I've highlighted the route on a map which I'm going to cut up and laminate so I know where we are.

Hi Sarah, the IOW ride seems so close now. I do hope the wind doesnt blow too hard along the coast. I have heard from several people that it doesnt do your camelbak any good if you put in anything other than water........however it may do YOU plenty of good. X E

Ick! [+o(] energy drinks
Reply Quote
I tried the energy drinks (Hi-5)gave me terrible wind, trots, stomach cramps! So I suggest you try them before you go IOW!
I struggle to drink enough plain water, so dilute mine with squash....took it to India too and when ran out, tipped in the odd carton of OJ....much better! No wind and camelbak fine!

Deep Breath,

We have over six months, you can do it all you have to do is breath.....

You can come to IOW because if you don't how will I laugh and tell everyone how stupid I was when I fell off!

And you have to come coz if you don't you might not want to and........ Just because we are relying on you.

You have two weeks to put the screws back on your saddle and cycle a few miles, it doesn't matter how many miles you do, because we'll be there for you....

So there.....

COME!

Angie, you'll be fine, it is hard work trying to get the motivation. I had big argument with myself yesterday morning about cycling to work. Part of me was finding every excuse under the sun not to and the tiny bit of me was saying I have to do it. Luckily the tiny bit won, and I know next week I will have exactly the same argument.
There is still the choice of doing the shorter ride. Apparently, at the place where it splits off, the shorter route takes you all the way back on a railway path, pretty much completely flat. I think most of us will know when we get to the split which way we want to go.
By the way Donna, it's only 8 days!
You may also be both sleeping in a half decorated room, hope that's ok.

Big Smile [:D] IOW FOOD STOPS
Reply Quote
Looked on the site and apparently there are stops in local schools where you can but soups, sandwhiches etc and are drink stops too. The local taxi service is also doing a rescue service!! for breakdowns and emergencies so if we find it to much you can dial a ride back to the ferry!!!

think im definatley going to do the 55km, really dont think im up to the 100km,
also not sure if my cycle trousers are gonna fit either!!

actually now booked ticket am much more positive, just need to do some pr work with hubby!!!

Hi Angie,
You were asking about a lift on the Friday, the cycle ride isn't till Sunday, so I assume it's the Saturday you need the lift for. Are you still coming to stay at my house on the Saturday and possibly Sunday night depending on how we feel.
Great about the rescue service, if my knee keeps playing up I may need them.
Glad you're feeling more positive.
