Hello ladies, Just to update you, Deena and I have been shaking our tins outside the garden centre with Deena's brilliant board to show what the charity is about and raised 142.40 to split 2 ways. Cool for 3 hours of standing about! Hi to Tino and Bear A, Bear what is your real name, and Tino if Para aly has got her to join up then there are definately more ladies in Scotland! Why don't you get in touch with AFC and ask for the names and email of addresses for ladies in Scotland. Now as to fundraising ideas, what sort of things would you like to do? As Suz said I have this sad brain that just keeps thinking and thinking and ideas just pop out! Der what a life..... Right, we have some takers for the last weekend of September. So far its: Me , Elaine, Von, Suz, Vicky, Linds, Deena and Sam. Let me know, as I know an earlier date was mentioned by not many people could make it. My name is Aly and I work as a paramedic in Fort William. Bear.A is my lovely wee crew mate and also a paramedic . Her name is Ailsa and she is a wee cracker. You girls from Cuba will love her in China. Anyway, I make and sell tablet and toffee and being scottish it sells quicker than snow of a dyke. I will send you the recipie. Cuba was my first cycle and if i can try it anyone can. I am 52 and very very overweight but it was fantastic. Everyone on the ride I did in Cuba was there to have fun, achieve personal goals, and raise caSH TO HELP OTHERS SO IT WAS A GREAT COMBINATION FOR A VERY HARD WORKING BUT FUN FILLED CHALLENGE. mY EMAIL IS astew1957@aol.com and work one is astewart9@nhs.net. I have a prize bingo on tues night this week and on fri a 50's/60's and 70's night so I am hoping this will finish fundraising for Jordan and send me merrily on my way fro china. Sue, are you and Vicky doing the training in September, and if so where will you be staying, like you I don't think I could face the Hostel!  Is anyone thinking of doing the Gridiron in the New Forest this year, its on Sunday 11 October, and you can download an entry form, just google Gridiron.  I could put a few of you up, but not in the style you've recently become acustomised too! Last year the Gridiron started off very wet, but it soon brightened up, and ended up being a lovely day..... Wish me luck, I'm going to see the restaurant about my evening tomorrow.  Plus I think I'm going to organise a bike ride for next year, have been researching routes etc, and I think it could be quite a good earner, especially if people get sponsored to do it.  I hope you can make it, I'll let you know the date for your diaries when its been decided. Lovely talking to you all, and welcome to all you newbies, you won't regret it.  Think of it like childbirth - its painful at the time, but you still go back for more!!!    Report

Gridiron - I am sure we can arrange enough accomodation between us Lyndsey. I have to say that I do not have the same living accomadation as Von but folks are very welcome to my humble abode. Arranging a bike ride in forest? Let us please get together for that one Lyndsey or we will be clashing. I too have already been putting thoughts together which I will share. When are you free to meet up? Didnt have much luck with finding my new bike. Tried some Specialized ones in shop but still didnt get that feeling of it being made for me like I experienced with Cuban bike. Its getting obsessive now in my search. Amanda, hope your knee is improving now. Aly, please would you just post the tablet recipe again it will be easier and I might give it another go. Still not perfected it. Take heed girls, the bagpipes are increasing in numbers, we had best search for the ultimate sound systems to add to our bikes. X Elaine    Report

Hi Elaine I'm not working Mondays and Tuesdays at the moment, and weekends or evenings are usually ok - I'd even cancel spinning for such an important get-together!!  I know you're probably busier than me so I'll fit in with you. Sorry you're not having much luck in the bike search, but i'm sure the right one is out there for you, there is a place near me called the Bicycle Barn and they deal in new and used bikes, it might be worth paying him a visit as he may have one of the older types which is probably more like the Cuba one. I'm off to the restaurant shortly, but i'll check back later to see if you've posted a reply. Love Linds    Report

I'm goint to stick my neck out and say yes to the Gridiron! Good luck with the restaurant Linds, hope they can fit in with what you want. I've got to ring the band that we're hoping to hire for our ball soon and get that sorted out. How are you getting on Amanda with the knee? Nice to see you're still going strong with the fundraising Aly. It seems that its not only funds that your getting, new recruits aswell. I did this wicked exercise in the pool last night, I was assured that if I carry on with it, it'll tone up my abs that includes my tummy!!!!!!! speak soon Donna xx    Report

Just to let you know restaurant booked for 16 October - thats the Friday of the Gridiron weekend, so if any of you fancy that too .........!  Feel I'm off to a start now.  I'm also about to advertise my spray tan parties so that should be good.  It only takes one to book then others want to do it (hopefully!) Just been for a lovely meal - hot tables, where you griddle your own food on a central hot plate, plus a BIG FAT PUD.  Think I'm gonna need that ab exercise before I explode!! Love Linds    Report

Sold 175 bags of toffee and tablet and made £1340.00 so it really helps. I have a dance on fri and Leslie and wee Izabel coming up so I am really looking forward to it with these guys. Hi everyone, can I come to the training the last weekend of Sept, please. I'm hoping to do the Gridiron as well but it's the day after I get back from France. It sounds like you're all doing well with the fundraising, I haven't even started with raising money for Naomi House yet. I seem to spend all my time working and doing the OU course. Please let me know, I'd like to get it done by the end of next week. Sarah really will be great to see you (hurray) Good luck with the fund raising! Angie, yes there is bike hire available. Suz did it last year so I'll get the number off her for you. Suz has booked her, Vicky and Linds into a hotel already, she's so organised! Deena's up for this one aswell. Its Ellis's birthday today. Managing some rides now daughter back up north but not far enough yet to feel happier with fitness level. Sorry but won't be able to make training weekend as that is the wekend before Jordan and can't request too many weekends off. Aly i admire you with all your fundraising i wish i was as good as you that is why choosing to do the extra shifts at work as my events seem to fall flat on their faces and my enthusiasm dwindles Amanda    Report
