Hi.
I would travel down A1, park in the Tesco car park at Kingston Park. Jump on the Metro at Kingston Park and travel to the Haymarket. From there its a 10 minutes walk towards the central motorway (start point).
I'm not sure how far from the finishing line South Shields Metro station is, but I reckon this might be your best plan.
Hope this helps you out.
Mick

Hi,
I would be grateful for some advice from someone who knows the area. We will be stopping in "Blaydon" on sat.
1.Which is the best way to get to the start line from Blaydonfor me.
2.Which is the best way for missus spud to get to the finish line from Blaydon. She will have the car but will it be easier on public transport?
3.Which is the best way to get back to Blaydon (assuming wifey doesnt take the car to the finsih line?)
Many thanks and good luck to everyone..

Yes the ferry runs in fact they put extras on (it's run by the same company as the metro)
and to the earlier poster - it's not a long walk from the Leas to Shields's Metro.
spudbutt.
Blaydon's a bit out for me as I live in South Shields but the easiest way is possibly to drive to Heworth park there then use the metro to get to the start for you and the end for your wife.
Then you can just walk to Shields Metro (just follow the crowd) and get the train back to Heworth.
The only thing is Heworth is on the run route so it kind of depends how soon you think you'll be wanting to get out - although you probably will still be able to get out - you'll just have to take the back roads to Blaydon.
