Have done further investigations into the Youth Hostel at Ilam. A 6 bed en suite room will be £89.50, thats less than £15 each. Not sure if we will have to pay £3 per person on top of that as we are not YHA members, the man didn't say in his email. I believe breakfast would be an extra £4.20.  They  also do evening meals (see below). The hostel is on a National Trust site, over night parking is just £2. The grounds look lovely. I think its about 20 minutes from parsley hey ( not much further than the one at Youlgreave) - thats if we start there, with it being a circular route we could start it anywhere I suppose. There is one 6 bed en suite room left, so they have held it until the end of this week for us. What does everyone else think? If theres more than 6 of us, it might be worth keeping the en suite room, and then booking extra rooms accordingly.

The restaurant serves home cooked style meals that
use local produce where possible. There is always a choice of about 5
main courses with 2 of the courses being vegetarian.

For example tonight's menu is:

Starters- Spicy pepper soup, garlic bread and homemade potato wedges
Mains- Steak and ale pie, leek and mushroom bake, beer battered cod and
homemade vegetable pasty all served with a choice of chips, new potatoes,
vegetables and salad.
Desserts- Fruit salad, apple crumble and triple choc chip muffins

Other typical dishes we do include lasagne, shepherds pie, bangers and mash, curry
and lamb hotpot. We also cater for special dietary requirements.

Hi sarah, well done for sorting Ilam Hall, I have a definate from Jane B (jb5) on my e-mail, so thats 2 of us, plus 2 Sarah's,  Stef,  Laura, that's 6 plus, Ann (Anncie) and Laura's friend, so perhaps we will need the 6 bed room plus another.

I am getting excited, isn't it good when a plan starts to come together!

Susanne

Hi Sarah
Thank you for this. I have been away in Prague for a few days so missed out on the latest forum updates. Overnight in the Youth Hostel sounds great. I have left a message for my cousin Stephanie who is going on the bike ride as well (she lives near Cambridge) to see if she wants to join us as I don't think she has looked at the forum recently. If she does and the youth hostel can't fit her in I'm sure we can sort out a b and b somewhere. I am a definite yes. Where shall I send the money to?
Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Best wishes
Ann

Sarah E, just had another e-mail from Jane, she can't make it now, says she has sent an e-mail to you, but just in case you didn't get it, by my reckoning we have:

Sarah E

Sarah T

Stef B

Ann  (cie)

Laura(loz)

Susanne (noZ)

Is this right, if so this is now 6, 7 if Laura's friend comes. When do you want money Sarah and how?

Don't worry about the money yet. Will sort it out once we have made the booking and know how much it is. Not booking it for definate until we know about Laura's friend anyway, because we will either need  a bigger room, or an additional twin.

Sounds like you are getting very organised!  I really need to train more and then look forward to meeting those on the December ride in due course.

Good luck for the peak district - please post how you get on so we can all find out.

Regards

Kristine

Just to let everyone know that there are now seven definates for the Peak District weekend.... Sarah E, Sarah T, Stef B, Ann, Susanne, Laura, Heather.

I have contacted the hostel and there is the possibility of squeezing an extra bed in the 6 bed ensuite. if thats ok with everyone. (There wasn't a twin or an 8 bed ensuite available) he says it will be a bit tight, but its only for one night isn't it? So I will go ahead and book that today if thats ok with you all, and let you know later how much it is. I am assuming we will all want breakfast and evening meal, but I imagine we won't have to pay for that until we get there.

Its all coming together, so thats good. Be in touch again soon, Sarah
