We could have an extra long rope, like a tug-of-war, and all be pulled along!

Roll on Sunday when I can put the training behind me and just look forward to getting my stuff together, getting packed and getting on our way!

What size luggage is everyone using - I want to avoid a proper suitcase but the holdalls don't seem to be big enough?

Karen

Hi Karen

I looked and asked for you at the training weekend I only did the Saturday it was a lovely day and a good work out!!! I think the thing to remember is it is not a race I found it a hard work out at times as I have trained on my own so had no one to compare with I did stay at the front most of the time but it makes no difference we are all in it for the challenge we will go at our own pace and we are going to have a ball. Smile <img src=" src="/emoticons/emotion-1.gif">.  I am taking a back pack a local shop had a sale on so I got my sleeping bag and it was get something half price so got the holdall as well. I have a bag I will carry on the plane and somehow it will all fit in !!! It is worth having a look on the internet regarding what to wear in Jordan they dont like us to wear vest tops so sleeves on anything and shorts are not a good idea wear 3/4 lengths and also if you have long hair to have it tied back I think that way you dont attract attention.  I too am really excited now and dont really get excited over holidays. I am cycling to work and back everyday but not pushing myself and adding the extra miles on.  Cant wait to see you all at the airport I met some lovely people on Saturday and I am now going to get the train with them to heathrow we are getting picked up at different stations along the way. What an adventure hey Big Smile <img src=" src="/emoticons/emotion-2.gif">

Hi Tracey

I have just been and got £180 they recommend about £150 and the exchange rate is almost 1 for 1. Dont think we need a lot as most of it is taken care of. See you soon if you are on the first one. x

Hi Jules

Wow - I'm impressed, just a back pack and holdall, if that's what everyone is taking then you'll certainly notice me - I'll be with one with the biggest holdall, probably the size of a body-bag!

Did my last cycle training at the weekend, was really pleased with myself cos I did another 45 miles and, with the exception of a few steep hills, found it rather enjoyable and not too hard at all.  It got me thinking that perhaps something was wrong (with me or the bike) at the training weekend, cos I knew I could cycle faster and longer than I did.  Anyhow, I'm not going to worry about it any more - I would be ill if a exerted myself all week, so I'm just going to go at my own pace - and if that's at the back, so be it.  Hopefully I'll have some company so no problem. Smile [:)]

Its lovely that you met some people at the training weekend - I struggled to find anyone on Event 1, practically everyone I spoke to was on Event 2.  It great that you're meeting up to travel, makes it a bit less daunting.  I'm doing this with my daughter, so not quite as nerve-racking as doing it alone!

See you at the airport!

Karen x

Can the sleeping bag be strapped to the outside of the holdall perhaps?  I suspect we'll have to be a bit creative with our packing!  Good luck

Hi Karen

Re the training weekend I was more out of breath than I had ever been and at points struggled maybe we all without realising it pushed ourselves a fair bit. I had trouble finding people on Event 1 too and then they all seemed to appear and the ones I met are a right giggle. My back pack it is a big back pack the sort young travellers wear and I will look rediculous with it mounted on my back LOL and my sleeping bag fits in the bottom and I even have a little pillow luxury hey!!! I am not taking that much 2 cycle shorts some cycle tops cycle shoes that sort of thing and then a dress I can scrumple up that is supposed to look unironed for the big meal !! :-) swimming costume, few pairs of 3/4 lengths a baggy pair of trousers and a warm top and some knicks obviously a few toiletries and some medical stuff but that is it. Fern did say come the evening all we will want to do is chuck something casual on eat then chill and bed and I did read  that a lot of them were saying how they had taken way too much before. I can do minimum quite good. As long as you strap your sleeping bag on really well maybe some cable ties etc I cant see why not. x

Aarrgh - I am SOOO excited.  Just looked up the hotels on the intranet and they are amazing!!!  For some reason, I had assumed that we would be staying in some very basis accommodation, just somewhere to get some rest - what a lovely surprise to discover that we will be staying in relative luxury - now I really can't wait - only 3 more days at work.
