Hi everyone. Lesley , wow that was a brilliant result. Well done , and to you also Clare. No, I have not yet booked anything, to be honest I am still in a state of shock relising that June has nearly gone! Where did that go?
Girls, can someone recap for me where and when any training events are on over the next couple of months. I am so keen to get out and booked into something, being in Norfolk is miles away from anywhere, and very flat - although that is a good thing right now as far as I am concerned.
Please let me know whats planned

Judith, I remember you saying about your handle bars on sunday and wondered if you might find it helpful.

Hi Ladies
I hope you don't mind me jumping in - I've just signed up for the March Cycle Challenge and can't believe that I've done it - I haven't done any fundraising yet and frackly scared myself silly when I saw the training pack.
Does anyone live in the Andover/Winchester area? I'd love to meet up to try to get some training in...
Thanks
Nina

Hi Nina
What ride are you on in March? My friend Jane and I are on 13th to 22nd. We live in Staffordshire so a bit far from you I am afraid, but some of us are trying to arrange a meeting in August at Rutland water (not sure how far that is for you as my geography is rubbish). Sally has started another thread for it so take a look.
Oh and dont forget to sign up for the training weekend in Oct as lots of us will be there too .

Hi,
we were in Norwich a couple of weeks ago for a 50 mile charity ride - thought it would be great practice- and it was! shame we couldnt have arranged something with you a few months ago.
if anyone else is thinking of doing any organised cycle rides it is an ideal way to get some training in - there can be no excuses!! - we didnt ask people to sponsor us but made a small donation to the charity ourselves instead.

Hi Guys!
Just joined this forum! I've registered for the March 13th-22nd event! I dont know whats more scary the training or the fundraising! A few weeks ago i bought myself a new bike and i'm hitting the gym as well! I have to admit that the first ride on the bike was enjoyable but my didnt realise how much my bum would hurt! I've invested in a pair of cycling shorts with the padding and they make a pretty big difference! I'll just have to push the through it unitl i'm use to it!

Hi Helen and Ellie
It is so good to hear from new people joining us all the time. Cuba is going to be great!
Dont worry Helen your bum will get used to it fairly quickly but padded shorts are definately the way to go!
And Ellie you are now part of a group of other like minded women doing this for some similiar and some very different reasons, but we are all doing it together!Yeah!!
The ride around Rutland on 9th and 10th August is open to everyone. The more the merrier. See the other link for details.

Hi Ladies,
My friend Bella and I R doing the Cycle Cuba March 5-12 09 event...
Fund raising going well. We've raised £3200 since January, (on target so far). I'm now feeling nervous because I'm douting whether I have the stamina to complete this challenge!! Can you girls tell me how much training you are doing at present?
I go to the gym 4 times a week but have not started any cycle training yet, is this enough?
I wud love to hear from anybody

Hi Steph, wow you're doing really well with your fundraising. I feel jealous! I haven't started cycle training either and I'm starting to feel a bit nervous about that. What I am finding really useful though is attending Veloton (or Spinning) classes three times a week. This seems to be a good compromise because I'm building up stamina, using the muscles I'll be using for cycling but not having to drag my bike out (I haven't even got one yet!!) and find somewhere to go. I think they will be particularly useful in the winter too when cycling will be really tough...
What does everyone else do?

Thanks Bec,
I try to do at least one spinning class a week along with 2 step classes and thigh toning classes... But people keep telling me I shud be out on the road by now! (so panicing a little)
Bella and I organised a race night at the local pub with only 2 weeks notice and raised over £900. Fanastic result, you should give that a try

Hi Ellie,
I live in the bottom of Northamptonshire but work for Leics County C, and would be really happy to meet up for training. I think about 10 or 12 of us are going to do the training week-end round the Rutland area in August so just a hop skip and jump for you - you could even cycle there!!!!!!
The support from everyone else is just brilliant - I felt like giving up a few weeks back, but the flood of "don't give up messages" has given me renewed enthusiasm. Hopefully you can meet up with us on the 9th or 10th or both - I don't think its just event 3 people who are coming, so hopefully you will get to know a few from even 4.

Hello everyone
Nice to see there are lots of new girls for Cuba 09 joining the forum.
Don't worry about the training everyone you've all get plenty of time to build it up. I do at least 1 RPM (spinning) class a week since March and try and get out for 20-30 miles once a week then a shorter ride.Although I feel quite fit, I still want to lose 2 stone before I go so have decided to concentrate on that and training at mo as fundraising OK.
Wish I could come to Rutland but too far as I'm near Bath. I plan to do more miles when my daughter starts school in
Sept on 3 free mornings.
Good Luck everyone Keep up your momentum we will all get there!!
