Hi All
I will look forward to seeing you all in sunny (hopefully) Cheadle on 22nd. I will plan out a good route with not too many hills and a nice stop inbetween. I will let you know the details of where to meet etc nearer too.
Me, Jane and Susanne for the 15th so far, hope you will be able to come too Judith and Ange. If we start out on time and dont meet any runners or swans this time we will be back for a nice late Sunday lunch (thats what I am planning anyway!)
Anyone else out there who lives near Cheadle or Stoke is very welcome to come along on either day too.

Hi all
Paul and I did the route I was planning on taking you all on yesterday.
Boy it was an adventure alright! It worked out at 29 miles and had two huge hills that I would challenge anyone to get up. It also had lots of smaller, but still thigh screaming inclines, because of this it took us 4 and a half hours including a half hour stop.
So I think I might make a few adjustments! Would people prefer less hills and keep the mileage or keep the hills and less mileage?
The Sue that Susanne told me about contacted me and we are going out on Tues afternoon at 3.15 for about 10 miles around Tean if anyone wants to come along?

Hi Everyone,
I haven't had a chance to look at the forum for a couple of weeks but reading about the Sunday Saunters has made me very envious. I am finding it really difficult to keep training on my own all the time - its hard to keep the motivation up and once you are out its very boring on your own. At the information day there was some discussion about a training ride round Rutland Water (28 miles) but I haven;'t heard anything from anyone so I presume nothing has been arranged.
Is there anyone out there in the Northamptonshire/Leicestershire area (or anywhere else) who would fancy a training ride one saturday/sunday. It would be really great to get to know one or two people who are going on the event 3 challenge but I would just be grateful for a "cycle buddy"
If anyone would like to meet I would be happy to organise it (I think!)
Lonely SBB!!!!!

Hi Sally (and everyone else), I've just signed up for the 13-22 March event (is that event 4?) I live in Derby so possibly not that close to you Sally but not too far either! I'd definitely be up for some cycling with you but I guess I'd better wait until I've bought a bike! I'm arranging a sponsored bike ride later in the summer and that could very well be round Rutland Water so I'll keep you posted. I'm taking a group of friends who are all being sponsored on my behalf.

Hi Bec
I did India, last November for Women for Women...I live in Toton, in between Nottingham and Derby, and have a friend doing Cuba 3, who lives in West Bridgford. I am keeping up the cycling and still ride with friends from the India event, one of which lives in Littleover....if you want to join us for a ride, when you have a bike, which may help!!! just give us a shout!
Sally - we have been talking of re-visiting Rutland sometime soon, as that was one of our haunts last year, so will let you know. We all found cycling with others invaluable. I know we are not doing your event, but I don't think that matters....we know what you're going through/aiming for! As i mentioned, my friend Heather is doing Cuba Event 3...things abit awkwurd for her at the moment, but hoping to get her out riding with us sometime soon.

Thanks Sarah, as soon as I get a bike I'll let you know and it'd be great to cycle together! I'd like to hear your experiences of doing the challenge yourself too.
Best Wishes

Just wondering if there is anyone in East Yorkshire that would like to meet up for some training.
At the moment I either go out on my own, or with my 7 year old, which doesn't really allow for the distances, but is a nice day out anyway.
I have done the Cycle India in February this year, and although I was fit enough to complete it, I really feel as though I need a bit more training this time around, heard that there are more hills in Cuba.
Cycle India Feb 08 Cycle Cuba March 09 Crazy really!!

Hi all
Welcome to all the new folk. It is great to see others joining all the time.
Has anyone who didnt make it to London had contact lists of riders in your group yet and I still havnt had confirmation that I am on the October weekend either has anyone else??
Jane and I are very excited and nervous as it is our big event on Saturday. Summer grill and auction night. We have some great lots and really hope to make a big impact on our fundraising targets. Work and local businesses have been great at donating stuff so we hope everyone will get a bargain and we will make a big stash of dosh!! ooooh I hope it all goes to plan!

Hi Lesley,
Many thanks for your thoughts - its such a shame everyone seems to be just too far ayway and with the cost of fuel......
I am finding it really dispitiring - I know I must get fit and train if I want to stand a chance of completing the challenge but it feels really lonely. I have already managed to raise £3,250 so my place is assurred but I am really worried - if its hard now what will it be like in the winter. I am thinking of finding out if my fund raising could be allocated to another participant and quietly withdrawing. Defeatest I know but at least it might help someone else who hasn't been quite as fortunate as I have been with the fund raising.
Really good luck to you and Jane for your event on Saturday - I am sure it will be a roaring success. - Maybe you could auction my unwanted cycle!!!

Please dont drop out - have you tried ringing the action for charity girls to find out if there is anyone close to you that may be doing one of the other Cuba rides?
Also my sister Jane lives in Banbury -how close is that to where you live? She too is desperate for a cycling buddy
It is such a shame you have raised all that money to not participate yourself
Plese please dont give up yet

Hi Sally
NO NO NO DONT GIVE UP!!! We wont let you!
Is there anyone at work who would cycle with you? Have you got a notice board you could put a message on? a relative, a friend, a friend of a friend? You have done so well with your fundraising you can now concentrate on your training. Where as, it is the other way around for me............great at training and in fact so many offers for people to cycle with I am spoiled, but finding fundraising hard. We have nearly 9 months to get fit and I am sure you can do it.
Are you going to the Cotswolds in Oct? I am sure there are lots of others on here who would love to meet up a couple of times before then. So lets get our heads together and find somewhere not too far for everyone and organise something?
Who is up for a meeting of as many of us as possible, say in August?
