Premiership cycle ride 2009 advise and comments please
Reply Quote

Hi everyone,

This is my first fundraising event which I'm doing with my two sons (15 & 12) and one friend of the eldest.

Details can be found here www.premiership-cycle-ride-2009.co.uk raising money for wishes4kids.

Looking at all other threads on here there seems to be alot of people with experience of long cycle rides which I'm lacking

As a newbie to cycling is there any tips that are obvious that I should be doing and also ones that cropped up during your ride that would help me and others?

Also I need to workout roughly where we will be at the end of each day, what distance and times are achievably in a day without killing our selves as we have to do this for a number of days

any comments would be most welcome and appreciated

Dean

Hi Dean

I would say get a gel saddle, padded pants and drink plenty of water. Drink before you are thirsty - once  you get thirsty you are already dehyrated. Take snacks like bananas, nuts and dried fruit which are long lasting sources of energy which you can nibble while you go along.

Hope this helps. Ann

Well, less than six weeks to go but things are progressing very well on both the fund raising and organisation (which is a lot more involved than you think).

I would love to hear from any of you guys! leave a message on our website's guest book if you have a couple of minutes spare

good luck with all your projects - your all special people

kind regards

Make sure your bike is set up right... wear your helmet correctly and watch out for the traffic.  Otherwise, just enjoy.
