I know there are many different trips from London to Paris in 2009 so wanted to start a post covering all of them - given the training and fundraising will be similar for all of them.

So - let everyone know:

* How your training is getting on?
* Any fundraising tips?
* Anything at all to inspire!!!

Stick out tongue [:P]

Hi,

I have just signed up to the Community after creating a new fund raising page and couldn't help but see this post!

My 2009 challenge is to ride from London to Paris and would love to know how other people are going about planning for it. This year I undertook a 450 mile ride so not too concerned about the mileage, guaranteed to be an issue now!, but am really keen to know more about routes, overnight accommodation etc.

The fundraising site is http://www.justgiving.com/t3br and the ride is called "The Bonkers Banker's Bike Ride 2009"

I will keep my eyes peeled to this thread and if anyone has any specific guidance, please feel free to mail me at anhoult@btinternet.com.

Have a safe and charitable 2009

Andy

Hi, I'm on the London to Paris ride for Alzheimer's Society on 16th Sept. I've found that Facebook has been surprisingly successful in getting people to sponsor me. I have £410 at the end of day 4.

I've also been into all my local shops, giving them a letter saying what I'm doing and why, and how they might be able to help. Already getting responses, for example donations to have a raffle or yard sale.

I'll let you know if any of the bigger local stores get back to me (e.g. Waitrose, Morrisons, Halfords, Argos) so you know whether it's worth getting in touch with them in your area.

I'm planning a yard sale and maybe a music event at my community centre. I'd like to find a restaurant or bar who will let me hold an event (like a dinner or happy hour) and take a cut of the profits.

I also joined Twitter (social networking site - bit weird but I'm getitng into it) and was a bit cheeky and asked Alan Davies the comedian for a sponsor and he gave me £40! :-)

So that's me as yet at day 4... Sorry... I'm not writing very well... it's late!

Anyone have any interesting ideas for fundraising also?

I'm not sure about the route we're taking because it's been set up by Discovery Adventures, the tour operator. I could tell you the final destination of each day so you could plan around that?
