Good evening all, great to see this forum on here, I think I may be using it quite a bit! I'm a new runner this year and really looking forward to it! I am running for Meningitis UK. At the age of only 7 weeks, my brother, Joe, sadly died of meningitis. It was a really difficult time for my family and I. If I can make even the smallest amount of difference in developing a preventative vaccine, and have an impact into putting a stop to the heartache it causes; then by running in the Bupa Great North Run, in memory of my brother, I hope to make my family proud. I looked into getting a hotel in Newcastle for the event, but it looks like there are none available, minus the few hotels at £250 a night! Does anyone know if there is anywhere local (Towns, villages etc) that I could stay over and then drive or metro in?! I am very unsure of the area so need some help please! If you contact www.nirvanaeurope.com as they organise somewhere to stay and transport to and from the event for both runners and spectators...
