I work for Virgin - Now you would imagine that they would have a little bit of spare money to throw around...However when asked for sponsorship they told me that they "couldn't help me as my event is taking place overseas."
After many emails to top level management, and even a letter to Richard Branson himself, all of whic have been ignored, i feel very let down by the company i work for, and feel that i would have had more help if i was working for a small local company.
Good luck though in your endeavours!

Hiya,
I work for USC and went to the marketing managerof the company, when i explained what i was doing (bike the baltic in id of Marie Curie) they were really helpful offering to pay for the registration and even have phoned paper's for me to get them to help... only asked last week and they have been on the phone constantly asking how things are goin and tellin me how they are workin on ways to help me! Been fantasic!
Think if you just explain fully what u are doing, go to the right person and even offer to have a logo or something to do with the company on you when you do your event (they are talkin of making me a t-shirt to get a picture for the paper in and to take with me with the USC badge on it) then you might get a positive response!
Hope all goes well!! xxxx

I work for the NHS so no way that they can give me any money... lol
I am going to write to a couple of businesses in the town and see whether they would be willing to sponsor me - especially if I can get their names in the paper.
Thanks Jen for starting this debate - I am going to write to some local companies and ask for sponsorship.
Veteran Lady.
In my area we have a local gazette which has really local events and advertisments. I got in touch with the lady who puts it together and asked her if she would donate a page to advertise my challenge and to put logos/names of any companies which are willing to donate cash. She's agreed and is also putting info about me in this months edition. Hopefully I'll get some interest.
I'm thinking of suggesting a £50 donation from businesses but haven't decided if this is a good idea yet.
I work for Asda but don't know who to approach for sponsorship.
Should I approach my mamnager or should I try going further up and approach head office?
Also what kind of things did you write in your letter, directly for money or for things like raffle prizes?
Thanks Portia
