Hi John,

Basically if you don't have one dont worry.  If you had one and want to take it then it definately has to be checked in the hold.

I have one and will take it but just becuase they sometimes come in handy.  Also might be more useful in the Amazon than on the actual hike.  I think we are going to be very well supported on the hike so I doubt it will be an issue.

See ya soon!

And ledge!!!! Nice one on all the stuff, I hit brick walls with most of the clubs up here for giveaways.  I had to pay £50 for a signed Sunderland shirt that is out of date lol  Newcastle told me to F off lol

Wow this has been a very inspirational thread as I have just signed up for May 2008 Machu Picchu! Anyone else on here yet for next year?  Not so keen on the toilet situation, but well, I've been to Glastonbury, I can cope! Look forward to hearing more about how people found this year's trip.

Fantastic time! Exhausting but amazing experience.  Met some brilliant people and shared some beautiful moments with them.  You'll enjoy this! No doubt about it.  Make sure you get to the pre-trip briefing as it was very useful.  Good luck with your fundraising and make sure you are pretty fit - ENJOY!!!!!!

Hi,I did the Machu Picchu trek in April 2006 and it was one of the most life changing experinces of my entire life. It would be impossible to put into words all of it's benefits even though it was quite tough at times. There were 30 people on the trek and within 24 hours we became the best of friends and ended up like one big family. Good luck in all your fundraising efforts and I can assure you all your preparations etc will be well worth the effort.

Alison, I will echo the words of Ledge and the other chap.  FANTASTIC!

I cant put into words what it was like but the whole expierience was brilliant.  If your doing it with Macmillan then you will find a very special group of people with you on the trip.  It was definately life changing for me.  If you have a bit of time spare then there are plenty of pictures here, www.flickr.com/photos/clarkey1979 and I would highly recommend that you save up and do the extension trip or at least stay on and do your own thing afterwards.

Good luck and listen to the advice ledge has given.  Make sure you do some training and make sure that when your on the trek that you go at your pace, its a group effort and never be concerned if you need to take your time.  I was leading the pack day 2, was fine, then I helped a lady up to dead womans pass becasue she got altitude sickness, but on day 3 it was me bringing up the rear becasue I just had no energy.  And on that point the food is fantastic, make sure you eat plenty of it.  They reckon you burn 4000 calories a day, I came back with 2 less notches on my belt and none of my jeans will fit lol

Enjoy, I wish I was on the trip with you.

Alan just took a look at your pictures....absolutely fabulous! Was a pleasure to meet you albeit briefly!

Glad you enjoyed the second part of the trip, hope you didn't miss the rest of the group too much!

To anyone else reading this I would echo what has been said before. It was the hardest physical and emoyional thing that I have ever done, but I would recommend it to anyone!

Hey Scarlet,

I'm sure we will meet again, I hope to see everyone again at some point.

I missed the rest of the group loads after you all went.  The Sunday in Cusco was a very werid day without you all.

Hope you like the picture of you at the sungate, I tried to catch the emotion some of us went through and I really think that picture captures it :)

Hi Scarlet, Angus Wink [;)] and other fellow trekkers,

I echo what Al has just said (Hi Al Smile [:)]), it would be fantastic if we could all meet up again at some stage. I can't believe the trek is all done and dusted now! You and anyone else for that matter might like to look at my photos as well http://www.flickr.com/photos/rosiegriffiths52/

Hope you're keeping well,

x  Rosie xx
