Sarah - you have done fantastic with your last bit of fundraising especially with raffel. I wish i had run mine for a little longer than i did but as i had to do it at a function i did it early.

Julz - sorry to hear you have dropped out.

Nicky - I think they say you can make the difference up yourself hence me doing the extra shifts and completeing target that way, not sue about credit card though you will have to ring them.

Managed a 25 mile ride sat afternoon weather gorgeous and really hot good isea i think about what we will be encountering.

One of my patients is a full time fund raiser and we got chatting and she says she enjoys it - SHE IS MAD her only problem is that cos she is getting paid for it she has targets to meet and an event she did sat night she needed to have raised £120,000 and no i haven't put in too many noughts.

Meeting up with Gail from Callington tues who is on our ride. Seems comicel that i have met up with all you lot a couple of times but the person closest to me haven't managed a meet yet fingers crossed for no torrential rain.

Amanda

Goodness, I must have been really tired and missed most of the postings (even though I did read them!)

The weather was great on saturday Amanda, you make me feel guilty, we should have hired those bikes even with me only having flip flops, what a picture that would have been.

Shame about the disco Sarah. Pants! Its Sarah B's this weekend hopefully hers goes well. If you manage to get a look in how many tickets have you sold Sarah?

Nicky, is there anyone else that you can nudge to donate online? might make a bit of a difference, but def keep fundraising.

Linds, love the idea of snail racing, Its a real corker. Not tried it, but guess it runs along the same lines as the maggot racing.

I'm putting off going to the gym, trying to motivate myself. So have put the washing away, some in the machine, had 2 cups of tea.... so far........ so much housework. feel a bit guilty about going to the gym. must bite the bullet.....

Hi Suz

I'm glad I've heard from you - life is so hectic I don't know how we fit it all in.  I'm not at my target yet either, but not that far off.  Got a quiz night planned, and a car boot, and I've got a couple of things on ebay which I was supposed to auction on my Cuba Night which was cancelled.  If you know anyone who fancies doing a nail training course get them to take a look and they could bag a bargain.  Ann (Action for Charity) came back from a secret mission (challenge) which is going out on tv in Jan.  everyone there was impressed how her nails lasted.  I re-did them on Saturday and they were perfect apart from growth.  If you knew what she had to do, you'd be amazed too.  All will be revealed!!

My training is steady now - doing spinning every night, mainly 11/2 hours a time! (mad!) then going out in the forest at weekends.  Boy did we get wet yesterday.  Still enjoyed it though (even madder!!) I hav'nt registered for gridiron yet - i'll do it now!!  Are you staying with me or B&B?

I'll also email them to say we want to share.  I'll do that now too.  Anything else I need to do?!!

See you soon then.

Hi

The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned!!  Hope you like big dogs and even bigger kids!! You might like to know that my quiz night is scheduled for Friday the 4 October, so if you're up for it we could have a Women for Women team!  Suz that goes for you and your lot too.  Anyone else welcome too.

I've really noticed a difference with my stamina now.  Those hills are'nt so much of a problem to me, and legs don't ache after a long ride.  Really getting excited now cos people are now telling me its not long to go!!

Bring on the Grid Iron!

Got a really nasty infected bite on my thigh at the moment, it hurts when I walk as the gland in my groin is swollen too. Ouch!

You are all doing so well girls ...

Julz, glad to hear Cuba might not be a write-off.

The Gridiron is a 100k cycle around the New Forest which takes in a number of cattle grids - hence grid iron.  Google gridiron cycle and you'll be able to download an entry form.  Only £3.50 or £5. on the day.

Keep up with the gym it will help keep your spirits up.

Hi Ladies, it's been a while. Just back from a little break and everything just seems to have taken off.

Julz, glad you're back on track for Cuba, look forward to having you here for the cycle weekend.

Deena, will be good to cycle together at the Macmillan ride on the 7th - Donna, sorry you can't make it, but in case I forget, best wishes and happy anniversary.

Sarah M, I hope you haven't cancelled your disco - hang in there, and hopefully like Donna people will just turn up on the day.

I still haven't done my collection at work - site manager has moved on and current one is like the scarlet pimpernel at the moment, so will just have rely on Keith's offer - I was hoping to use that for airport tax and spending money.

Managed to spin and run tonight - I feel so sluggish after my holiday, I don't know how I'm going to get through the Mac ride.

I don't know about you ladies, but I'm really beginning to worry about how I'm going to cope with cycle day after day.

Good luck all with the last bit of fundraising - keep your spirits up and we will all go to Cuba.

Look forward to seeing you all at the training weekend.

Hi girls, Hope you are all doing very very well and your fund raising has all been sorted out. I think we all worked very very hard and deserve a wee pat on our backs for getting this far.
my tablet still selling at the local bingo hall and a kind lady takes it down for me on a sun and a thurs. It is selling about £125.00 a week so when I take out expenses it is making me about £75.00.
I had a week off last week but started again this week. I am going to carry it on through the winter as long as I can as it is giving me a great start fro Jordan.
My weight well... that is another story.. I have still not lost any more weight for months.
I am going to spinning classess 2 x a week but nearly died when I read someones goes on fro 1.5 hours.
Our clasess are on for 45mins and I honestly could not do another second. I find them very very difficult and come out with a redder than red face. Tonight I felt really sick and did not enjoy it at all. Did a hilly 28 miles on sat though and enjoyed it but I am worried that my fitness level will not take me round the Cuban hills.
Good luck to all of you with fundraising problems as it has been a slog for many.
Leg gettiing a wee bit stronger but i am still of work as I can not kneel down at all.
Well girls what started of last year as a great adventure and a nightmare to raise £3,000 has come around and is bitting us on the backside. I can not wait to meet you all and put faces to names.
Good luck, stay safe and healthy. Aly x

Hey Aly, Lovely to hear from you again. Sorry to hear about your meeting with the little doe and the consequences that followed. You take care and no taking risks now, especially as the cold weather sets in. It will be good to meet up again.
Tried spinning myself and have to agree with you and wonder why the classes dont get me to sign a disclaimer before attempting the session. I do look a sight at the end, I think, I cant actually see properly for the waterfalls running down my face.
Every one else seams to be getting on nicely now with the final fundraising out of the way, its now time to step up the training regime.
Hope Cuba recovers from the hurricane and pray that there are no more.
Looking forward to the Cotswolds and then the Gridiron. Positive thinking... not.
Is anybody else researching the best cycling clothing to take out with us in the hot weather? Bet there will be NO light weight clothing around soon.
(how on earth do you manage all those spinning classes Lyndsey?)
X Elaine

Good news on the Cuba front Julz, hope it all falls into place for you.

I held my pub quiz end of last month and combined it with a mini raffle. Only managed to raise £150 overall which although isn't great it's still something towards the total. Luckily I've been pulling in all sorts of overtime so I'll just put that money in. It's a bit disheartening that I've put a lot in myself but it's all for a good cause isn't it??

BTW, I've got some W4W balloons left over if anyone wants some for their do's. I'll bring them with me for the Cotswolds training or can post them out if you send me your address.

I've got my confirmation for the Gridiron but it doesn't tell me where the starting point is?? Is it close to the Train Station again does anyone know??

Sam.

Hi Sam,

I am on the Cuba 3 event and have a ball coming up on the 13th September.  I would be very, very, grateful for any balloons you may have left over. I need about 50 in total and currently have about 20.  So, please if you let me have your email I can send you my address.

Hope all is going well for the Cuba training weekend, I hear it is being filmed!

Good luck

Lorraine

Hi Mavis

What time are you hoping to start the Macride. My hubby is bringing me over so let me know and we can meet up. Not done this many miles in one go so it will be interesting.

Julz, glad you are still on for Cuba looking forward to seeing you at the training weekend.

Hi all,

Deena you'll be fab on the ride, you put the rest of us to shame. see you tomoz and good luck everyone with the ride, hope the weather holds out! I've been clearing out the cupboards and hope for good weather as I NEED to carboot on saturday to get rid of all the things that were 'found'.

Just a reminder, Mavis found us Midland ladies a ride in October here to coincide with the gridiron. Ann (and anyone else who might be interested)
http://www.bhf.org.uk/get_involved/take_part_in_our_events/event_display.aspx?e=3318, this is the link (if it works)

Really great news Julz, fingers crossed it goes your way.

Sarah. Good luck with your event this weekend. Hope you have a whale of a time...

And yes Amanda those hills put me off even looking for a bike rental shop............ although I did pick up a brochure and promptly hid it under the mat in the car.

Aly, hope your knee is getting better everyday, I know how frustrating it can be not to be able to kneel down, so best wishes with the recovery, was so relieved for you when you said it wasn't as bad as it could have been, and you've managed to get out cycling.

Linds, how do you manage 1.5 hours spinning. I'm looking at my watch at about 1/2 hour, praying for the last 15 mins to pass quickly! hoping that he'll go easy on us! Ha, like that happens.

Nattered for long enough, full day today, off to the gym again, then a ride, and gym this evening. I've alot of fitness to recover before seeing you all next week need to be able to keep up with you all.
