Solent Coasts Cycling Challenge - 21 June 2008
|
|
|
|
|
This is the sixth year of this popular Cycling Challenge which involves a self navigating circular route around the Isle of Wight and the Hampshire coast. To complete the challenge cycle 66 miles and cross the 6 ferries on the way – all in a single day. This is a sponsored cycling event to raise funds for three UK registered charities. Ferry tickets are available at vastly reduced rates.

Hi there... I am not doing the Solent thing but am local and could do with a cycle buddy to train for the Cuba 08 ride! I live in Hamble. Also will be going to Isle of Wight for the Randonnee 2008 event as a practise run on May 4th.

You sound like quite a professional! I have only ever done 12 miles in one go before, I am looking for someone with similar strength/stamina.

Professional? haha! Me? Far from it! I just about managed to do an 18 mile ride yesterday! Went across on the ferry to Warsash and cycled to and back from just past Stubbington. Longest for me so far. So getting worried about the whole thing now to be honest.

Hi ,
I live in Bursledon, and this is the third time doing the Solent Cycle, but I have also with 2 other friends signed up for Cuba in Mar 09.
This morning 2 of us went out and did about 12 miles down to Hamble,along Weston and back to Bursledon, and in the rain took just over the hour.
But have organised a ride from Bishops Waltham, upto Alresford,where we have lunch, and back again, for Sun 11th May. About 34 miles, so if interested let me know, as you could join us.
The others cycling will be a mixture of Solent and Cuba riders, probably at least 5 of us, as we are entering Solent as a team.
Just an idea if you need the training, and don't worry we are a very mixed bunch of riders and be nice to have some new faces along.

I live in Alresford and I'm going to Cuba in Nov, I don't know what time you're thinking of cycling from Bishops Waltham, but I would quite like to cycle to you and them come back to Alresford with you and have lunch.
Would that be ok?

Thanks both Kat and Julz. Sorry I didnt reply earlier I had been out in Russia with work, but im back now. Although I did know I was going I was rushed off my feet organising everything so I didn’t get a chance to reply before I went.
It now looks like there are a few people doing this. Now I have two invites, I was wondering if Julz wanted to meet with the Bursledon group and I if that is ok with everyone?
As for the 11th of may its really unfortunate that I cant this as its my girlfriends birthday, and I wouldnt miss that for the world. However I am up for the next ride when ever that may be, any ideas?

Hi all,
The Bishops Waltham ride is definately on for Sun 11th May, anyone wishing to join us then we are meeting at Bishops Waltham, in carpark opposite Banks Restaurant for the off at 10.30am.
Anyone coming along , let me know then I just have an idea re numbers.

I don't know whether you now, but it's the Watercress Festival in Alresford, lots of things going on, it's a great day out and the weather looks good. Can you let me know which way you are cycling, I will try and get to Bishops Waltham by 10.30am but if not I should at least come across you on the way. I'll e-mail you my mobile number in case of problems.

We will be cycling out of Bishops Waltham towards Droxford and Soberton,crossing the A32, then onto Meonstoke and Corhampton .
I hope that is helpful, but really I just follow everyone else.

Hi .. I wont be able to get to Bishops Waltham as have no car to transport my bike, so going to stick to local rides for now until the Solent Coast ride which I have now signed up for! Would be keen to join you on any local ones though. Going out for a few miles with Paul this morning, beautiful day for it, and have the whole day to plod along.
