Hi

Hope you are not in too much pain Donna, and its not going to spoil your hols. Had painful tooth experience this week in the form of £44 for a check up and small filling. Ouch.

Car boot very busy but nobody parting with their money. Made just over £30 but every little helps.

Mavis, I am going to sign up for the Macride, perhaps we can meet up and cycle together. Is anyone else doing it?

Hi everyone,

Well, it looks like I'm going to have to cancel my disco. I've only got a couple of weeks left and 2 tickets paid for and they're not even coming. There are definately 22 coming but haven't paid. I'm not too worried about it, I've only got about £200 left to raise and I'm selling my raffle tickets in a coffee shop on Saturday so that should help. I've still got some people who owe me money for sponsorship.
Anyone down south fancy a cycle, Elaine, Doreen, Lyndsey, anyone please. I hate cycling on my own, I give up after a few miles.
I'm free tomorrow or next Tue.

How is everyone else doing, it's gone very quiet.

Sarah xx

Hi

Sorry to hear that you are having to cancel your disco hope you haven,t lost any money. Did you sell plenty of raffle tickets on Saturday?

I know what you mean about cycling on your own. It can get very boring. I cycled to Leamington with my hubby yesterday and it was good to have company. Most of the route was along disused railways and canals. Bit nervous along the canal paths as the waters edge seemed very close at times.

I have just signed up to do the Macide on Sept. 7th around Warwick. Mavis has signed up also so hopefully I can ride with her.

Hi nice to hear from you guys.  Sarah, I would have loved to cycle with you next week, but I have to work on the Tuesday.  Am free Sunday though? It is really hard fundraising, and I really feel for you having to cancel the disco - I had to cancel an event too and its really disheartening. I had my snail race night on Friday, it was good fun and had the potential to be a good money maker, but just my luck, the weather was really nice, so not as many turned up as I'd hoped!!  I've still got about £1,000 to raise so getting quite desperate now.  Have got a quiz night and another snail race night in the pipeline but won,t be till after the deadline now.  Also doing a car-boot.  Don't want to not go with you guys!!

Hi Lindsey I was looking at that snail race site with a view to doing one in the autumn. How much did you make in the end? Did you break even? Ann

I am also some way off my target - I guess we'll have to see what they say when we don't make if in time! I will get the money - just not in the next few days. I WILL be going in November even if I have to fork the last 500 quid myself! (add that to the tax and its a lot of money though!
I do enjoy cycling on my own but it means I never go that far - I am worried that I'll manage an hour really well then not be able to to any further cox that's by standard rife! K guess I'll see in Stratford!
Anyway keep smiling!

I broke even on the night.  It was fun, and I'd suggest having a good master of ceremonies who could gee everyone up, and do the auctioning of the snails!! If you do it as a family event, have loads of lolllies to give to the kids if they get 2nd  or 3rd place.

Hi

Yes it is very quiet, know a few who are on their hols.

I think quite a lot of people will be putting the money in as they have functions after the due date. Still doing car boots to pay for the airport tax. Does that include fuel? If it does then the price should go down as the price of oil has.

Managed a few good bike rides but suppose I'm lucky as I am retired. Don't know how you ladies do it that are working full time. I admire you.

Would have loved to do the Gridion, but come back from my hols on that day. But I have booked onto the Macride which is 100k on Sept 7 so will be knackered for the training weekend. Looking forward to getting together with you all again.

Hi Girls

i have been on hols and then too busy to get to computer.

I am in the situation of having events after target day so i have been doing the extra shifts that will put me to target and then i am wondering what to do. I may even start going towards a future event!!!!

Met up with Donna yesterday as holidaying in Cornwall so not far away from me so it was lovely to catch up for a gossip. No cycling though.

was feeling under the weather last night and i must have been unwell as i went to gym and couldn't really do anything so i gave up and went home. Hopefully back to almost normal (if that is possible for me) so will stry and get out on bike tomorrow.

I did manage a couple of bike rides and a run whilst  away so pleased with myself for that.

Woops better go as buzzers going as this a crafty one at work

Amanda

Hi all

Well I have made the decision now to change rides... I am gutted that I wont be cycling with the lovely ladies I have already met, but it is for the best! I came back from hols to find I no longer have any shifts at the pub (they promised me my job would be safe) So therefore there is no way on earth I am going to meet the target let alone be able to afford the airport taxes. At least with Jordan the target is less so I would be nearly there already, and airport taxes should be less as its only 1 flight not 2.
If I request extra time and hand in the £2000 collected I risk having to forfeit it if I don't get the tax money in, as everything would be booked. I am still going ahead with my Cuban night but with interest very low around me I have little confidence of it being a huge success! Post holiday blues are setting in now... talk about come back to earth with a bump!

I'm up for a cycle on Tuesday Sarah .. need to step up training either way

Sorry ... winge over .. you are all doing brilliantly.. good luck

Hi Julz,

Sorry to hear you're changing over to Jordan.  I think quite a few people have dropped out of the Nov ride.  I wouldn't have been going if it hadn't been for the raffle I'm doing.  I've not really raised any money from anything else.

I don't think I'm going to be cycling Tue, I feel horrible at the moment, think I picked up a bug from work.  It maybe ok by Tue, I'll let you know on Monday if that's ok.  We could always go for coffee instead?

I sold another £110 of raffle tickets thanks to Caracoli coffee shop.  Only got a little bit more to raise now.

How's everyone else doing out there?

Hi All

Ahhh, Julz, you can't leave us now, you are one of the team!! I hope you had a great holiday, but talk about coming back to earth with a bump, with no job. Maybe something good will come out of it.

Sarah, I'm working Tuesday, so not free for a ride. Hope you are feeling better soon. Elaine and I managed to do 18 miles this morning before I had to go to work. She has got new tyres and there is no stopping her now!! You should see her go!!

Tongue Tied [:S] has anyone got tan lines?
Reply Quote
hi ladies,

Back from my holiday down in Cornwall, the weather wasn't up to much except for yesterday, so no tan lines! Did I blink and miss summer?

It was great to meet Amanda in Bodmin jail!

Its sounds as though everyone is axious, but planning for the deadline, sorry to hear about your job and change of plans Julz.

Sarah did you say loads of people have dropped out? what a shame, with all the hard work they put in as well.

I've got the hard job now of getting back to the gym and on my bike to try to be at least a bit fit before the training weekend.

What sort of tyres did Elaine get?

Off to sort out the washing. The joys of coming home..... Oh yea and its sunny now!

Hi girls,
well, I'm not sure what to do......HELP!
I'm £700 or so off target, haven't got any spare cash for fuel supplements and panicking.......do I put it on cc and keep fundraising until I pay it off (is that allowed?) or do I change rides? I'm so confused!
Does anyone else have this dilhemma, as I know a few have already swapped rides......
